Im looking for an offroad toy so I don't tear up my taco, must be a solid front axle and small. I'm looking at jeeps but don't know much about them, what should I look for, common problems? Things to stay away from? Has to be under 5 grand too :D

Cherokee or Samurai are probably your cheapest option, cherokee has a huge aftermarket idk about samurai but try and find a AMC 4.0 for the cherokee i think its either pre 91 or 90 they pretty tough motors

Samurais seem to fetch quite a bit of cash, and then there is the issue of weak components and a 1.3L motor (wwweeeeaaaakkkkk).

I would love to have a Samurai with a Toyota drivetrain, thats whats up, lol.

Only at first, I can barely tell anymore, lol..

Honestly your best bang for the buck by far would be a Cherokee, very inexpensive (less than wranglers generally speaking) and TONS of aftermarket, and even used aftermarket parts are very easy to find, since a lot of Jeep stuff is interchangeable..

Heap TJ 1997 to 2006 - get the 4.0 straight 6, manual - great aftermarket IMO
