Just want to hit some of the trails that I hit on my 200cc '85 yamaha'uler, you know...
Under the carriage contraception, lift, brush guard, 33 12.5 after the rough country kit. Just looking to check some good builds out...
Probably going to do some kind of rhino line to the body all around too. Thanks everyone!

Less is more. And most Tacomas are very capable out of the box. I get around a lot of back and forest/mountain roads in Wyoming and Montana with nothing but upgraded tires. My money saved for other activities or maintenance. Basics like recovery gear, an air compressor, or tire repair kit are much more functionally useful than a lift. No offense to lifts I love the look.

But once you add a lift, tires, and etc etc just for getting the bike to the woods, you’ve undone a lot of factory geometry made for just that. Things won’t be right, stuff will break, more unnecessary weight is added, and your wallet is that much lighter.

Save your money. Just throw some BFG KO2s or similar on it, and trailer in the Yamaha with cash for fuel, maintenance, beer, whatever.

You’re going to rhinoline the body of a 2022? And install a rough country lift?

    It’s not Friday yet

    I agree.

I wouldn’t upgrade anything until your use shows a need for an upgrade.

I'm not a serious off-road guy, but I have taken mine down into places anything less wouldn’t make it. Just Duratracs and open differentials with ELSD.

Really capable little truck out of the box.

Hellyeah Boys, I appreciate all the feedback and am getting my windows tinted on Saturday morning,
Basically I'm going to make a badass pickup that I have always loved since I was kid. By that, I mean I'm going to have some fun with it and build on it over the years.

My 2010 2.7 Tacoma is a daily and a weekend overland camp rig. I've completed a couple of the BDR's with it. The only mods pertaining to overland are suspension takeoffs from a gen 3 TRD and 265/75r16 Toyo AT3's. The rest is recovery gear and supplies. I got a $200 aluminum canopy from craigslist and bolted a $100 Amazon solar panel to it.

I camp with dudes driving 40k trucks with 10k camper toppers...and I'm sittin around the fire just fine.

    Less is more. :)

Edit - that said, have fun. If YOU want to bolt something on because it's fun, go for it.

OP- id avoid Rough Country at all costs, especially stay away from drop bracket lifts(they are only good for “looks”, worse articulation than factory). The Bilstein kits i see on here often are a good entry kit, and when you go to 33s you’ll want regear and tune. Mods on these trucks are not cheap, buy right the first time and cry once only.

Sliders are worth consideration, I found it pretty easy to rub the own running boards on stumps or rocks trying to make some of the tighter turns on trails that were more intended for shorter vehicles. The anytime backup camera and front facing camera are also a huge plus IMO when on the trail.
