Hey guys, just wondering if anyone out there has any preferences on which brand of LED lights is best for the price, as well as easiest install. I just have the stock bumper and i'm looking to install a separate light on each side of my license plate. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

    I bought the EP2 1240 20 inch bar.

going to mount on a 2x2inch aluminum angle same as pictured above.

The EP has 20,000 lumens so it should be crazy bright.

    A little expensive though.

ahh i'll have to look at those. How did you get your light bar to fit so good in the slot in the bumper? From the pictures it looks like you still left the sides of the black insert around the light bar. Do you have any close up pics of how the bar fits in that spot?

    Thanks,
    Kory

Rigid Industries hands down, dont waste you time with knockoffs if you want a quality light

I had a bracket custom built from the front of the frame rails to place the bar right in there flush with the fins. The fins were cut just wide enough for the bar to fit in between them. I would take some pics for you if I wasn't 1000+ miles from my pickup at the moment. I'll hopefully have it back next weekend sometime and if you remind me I can get some pictures for you.

I unfortunately have to disagree with you. Just because Rigid was first doesn't mean that everything else is necessarily a knockoff. I don't think anyone can deny that Rigid has the durability that outclasses any other bar out there, but the output has been matched and even beaten in some instances by other manufacturers. In my personal opinion for the average Joe Schmo looking to add some extra light to their rig a Rigid bar is overkill. Plenty of other options a much more affordable and provide the same benefits. Sure, if you are running in the desert and getting your equipment pounded on all of the time a Rigid makes sense, but not for the mall crawler or even occasional offroader. The additional cost was not worth the shotgun blast proof light bar. I personally don't use my equipment like that and I don't think the majority of Tacoma users do either.

If your looking for a cheaper light, not the best quality, KMD garage. The brackets that they use are the perfect height for mounting a light to the crash bar. Make sure you get the sliding bottom mount brackets, not the side mount. Heres my 36" bar.

Self tapping screws holding the sliding mounting brakets to the crash bar

This has nothing to do with durability its all about customer support and hands down Rigid offers the best in the industry along with a high quality product to boot. LED companies have sprouted and fizzled by the dozens over the past few years as the LED market has boomed. Why you might ask... well when your not actually doing your own R&D tech problems and quality control issues are bound to arise and unfortunately its usually discovered by the end user or "Joe Schmo". Sure one guy in his garage may be able to offer you a better price on a similar looking bar than the big companies when he brings in a few pallets of knock-offs from China but what happens when your $500 knockoff bar loses an led or starts leaking due to a bad seal? Do you think he is going to be much assistance in getting you a replacement? Absolutely not then you're either stuck in limbo trying to deal with the overseas manufacturer seeking a replacement or you just have a bum led bar that you'll have to live with. With Rigid its as simple as a phone call and usually you will have a replacement on your door before they even have your old bar back if you ever even have an issue to begin with.

I'm not just making these stories up either, I can tell you specific examples of customers who thought they could save a couple pennies by purchasing a knock off product only to find that they simply don't hold up to even under normal weekend wheeler conditions and now they're stuck with a $500 paper weight and saving again to buy the right thing. I'm pretty sure there are even a few stories on this site alone like this but I won't go pointing fingers.

The only companies I would ever consider for LED lighting are in order:
    Rigid
    VisionX
    Baja Designs

All the rest, dont wast your time. You wouldn't recommend a cheap spacer lift, why would lighting be any different? Spend your money in the right place the first time so you're not redoing projects down the road.

Buy Quality, Buy American Made. Buy Rigid. Made right here in Gilbert AZ.

Just my $.02 tho, not trying to :stirthepot:

    to each his own

^lol...i have a knockoff LED bar, and guess what, it has a bad seal, and guess what, the startup company i got it from didnt really successfully "start up" so no warranty for me. I got my bar from treklights :frusty: other companies with good customer sevice offer the same exact products though, like KMD garage

 Sucks dude, I'm sorry but perfect example right? How long did you have the bar before you noticed the condensation build up?

About a month. It was just a little condensation at the time. He had me convinced it wasnt going to get worse and it wouldnt effect performance so i figured i would wait a little longer and see what happens before i request a replacement through the 1 year warranty he offered, he said he would honor it. Then his business went downhill quick, the group buys he was doing got way to big, this was months ago and people still dont have their lights and probably never will. I never heard back from him. now the sealant is wicking up into the light and i need to take it apart, clean it, dry it, and reseal it.

Your advice to the OP is good advice, i wish i went with a reputable brand instead of chinese knockoffs. There is some good companys offering these cheap lights, but if you buy from one of these companies you need to be very cautious, there has been over 20 sellers on this site alone in the last six months popping up selling cheap chinese knockoffs. Some people have no issues, they work fine, use CREE LEDs, but the housings are junk and the finish is horrible. Tons of guys have had their black light turn to a bronze color.
