The Tonneau cover (Retrax XR series) that fits with the Yakima system look really good and very functional. I couldn't justify another $2000 for the Tonneau cover after the price of the rack itself. Looks like I'll have to stick to Walmart plastic bins for the bed.

Yea, that’s a slick solution but extremely pricey. I could not justify the total price.

Hell, the Yakima towers, cross bars, and track kit are over $1100. I used to think the Thule kit was expensive but sheesh.

I haul dirt bikes also, the ROLA rack was perfect for me as the mounts stay locked on the bed rails and the rest comes off pretty easily.

14' Scupper Pros. About 65# each.

At 95# for a 12' unit, it would definitely be a trailer for me. Coming in after 3-4 hours of paddle/fish, have an approaching squall with 20-30 mph winds to fight your loading and I'll leave the 'on the roof' stuff to the young gym jocks.

The 95# @ 12' long is way tougher than 95# on a barbell.

My Bonafide goes in the bed and my wife’s goes on top of the Diamondback cover. Strap everything down. I have the extender from harbor freight and I was thinking about rigging up a second level out of 80/20 for the one on top of the cover.

OEM roof rack with some Yakima Bowdown racks. Very stable.

I need the bed for bikes when pulling a trailer.

I know right? If I knew I would have been hauling more than motorcycles I would have gotten something bigger

Friend of mine this week. Shows a good reason to use a trailer if lifting is not an option for someone. Note the yak went thru the back window and out the front. He had some minor head injury, but a few inches left would have been tragic.

The fool that hit him was arrested for DUI.

    I drive a Miata.

That's a lucky guy there, and the DUI asshole was lucky that it didn't pop up instead and impale his face. This has been a weird little fear of mine - and the reason why I never haul lumber (or boats) with the tailgate down, if I can help it. Always tailgate up so that it's angled away from both parties' noggin areas.

My truck before this was a Ford Superduty Diesel F250 I used to put my BMWr1200gs in back. Put the back rack on and the kayaks over the bike!

My dad told me a story of my uncle once. He was driving down the road and some rebar fell off a truck and bounced. It went right into the windshield and hit the backside of the steering wheel where it got stuck. Almost killed him if it was 1 inch to either side, but his car steering wheel was now locked with rebar so he couldnt turn. Got out of it ok, but still scary to think of, so I dont drive behind any kind of load that looks like it would kill me if it fell off.

    On a happy note...
I went with the Yakima Long arm rack for the adjustability. It is much lighter than it looks and can haul 2 yaks. A close 2nd was the t-bone. For the few extra bucks over the Harbor Freight extender, it’s worth it. You’ll get it back when you sell it.F59FD4E1-B3DA-43D2-A5BB-16DC6FEB4B66.jpg

Then build a cart rack for storage and convenience. Before this, I used a small kayak trailer, but I pretty much bought my truck so I could ditch the trailer.FD9D99B2-F566-481E-BB10-FE07CB60CC8A.jpg
