I have a bed rack but need a cab roof rack to rest the front of my canoe on. I don't see much to hold one. Any ideas?

haul (X-cab) my cedar or bluehole (both 16') on the same ladder racks... i push the bow up more toward the front. installed 2 SS eye bolts on front bumper and use 2 u-bolts in bed. run rope through bolts forum a triangle and tie'em down... no problems doing 70mph on I-state.
you will have no problem find'n thule, yaks or factory... got $$$ :spending:

You just need on front bar it seems. So if you go Thule, forget about needing that short roof adapter. You can just get the front peinar and clamps and be good.

They’ll think your a nutso when you order it though!

The only "single bar" system I could find is made by Rhino Rack. And, the best prices I found were at AutoAnything.com.
Rhino Rack makes a roof rack kit with choice of a couple of different cross bar styles. The system is made to mount one bar above the front door and one above the rear door of a double cab. The front and rear bars are the same but the mounts are different for the front and rear locations. You can order a kit with only one bar and the front mounts and save money. I did this to supplement the two bar Yakima rack on my camper cap. Now I have three cross bars for longer cargo.

    Good luck

Are you opposed to a contractor's rack? My buddy has one for his 2 two-person kayaks and it works great.

Get a roof rack off of an old 4Runner and put on your cab.

If you want it as far forward as possible, you might get a front receiver hitch and build a kayak support that plugs into it.

Yakima has clamps that fit the doors of the 1st Gen. I got some used but they clamp into the upper portion and you fit a 3/4" bar through it.

the Q clips are Q117 but can't find them in stock anywhere
