I had 9 of those wheels at one point, all of them the standard alloy finish. I only ditched them because I couldnt get good life out of c rated all terrains. I had decent luck on some nitto trail terrains but they are some beef tires in 33x12.50x15, they feel much bigger, but in the 6k miles i had them, I had no signs of wear. So I jumped up to 16's, was looking for some 1st gen tundra wheels but gave up. I now have 8 of these wheels for my truck and future trailer.

I've been reading this thread and wanted to ask.

    what's your axle ratio?

I thought they went to 31x10.5x15 starting with the '98 model year and ditched the 225/75, but I could be wrong?

What year is that? That's my favorite body style of this T4R.

31s were an option, at least through my 2k. But if it rolled off the lot with smaller tires it was geared for them and not 31s.

reason I ask, some put smaller tires thinking it's better mpg. just wanted to be sure.

Smaller tires will weigh less. Even if the 2 tire sizes were ultimately geared correctly and the engine was running the same rpm, smaller tires will win in mpg. If you came factory with smaller tires and go bigger without regearing your mpg will drop quite a bit. You have more mass to turn, more rolling resistance, and the longer lever of the extra diameter will take more energy to turn.

Love those wheels. I want some for my truck. Best looking 16" in my opinion. I couldn't find a clean set for a reasonable price, so I snagged some flawless 17" rims with about 1200 miles off a new 4Runner for $200.

Not mine, but same truck. I "photoshopped" the wheels to see what they look like black.
