This is how the angle of the 2nd shaft into differential looks like after 3" lift. Have orders 2* angle shims and still waiting for them. In the meantime I would like to see how the angle looks like on a tacoma stock, no lift, no load in the back on a leveled plane.
Please post pictures if you have/can. Thanks.

I think any mod that includes spacers is considered a bad mod

I'm curious as well since they were designed to drop the driveshaft back to, supposedly, their factory angles. Never had any of mine lifted so I never needed them so genuinely curious.

@Dacon I'm in Queen Creek if you want this see it in person. Mine is a DCLB though. Let me know if it helps.

Edit: I'm 4WD and all stock still.

Hey, first off, I don't mean to piss in your cheerios, but I don't think you can draw lines on your picture like that. You need to take into account the perspective of the camera unless the camera is also normal to the plane created by the two lines. In other words, completely straight on.

That being said, I also went outside and took a pic of my 2016 DCLB on a flat surface for you ;) It does have a shell on it though.

This is what too straight looks like. I have the ome carrier spacer kit. It didnt vibrate with the full OME Dakar pack. A year later I added in the extra leaf and 3 degree shims and it vibrated like crazy. I should have just done a 1 degree or washers under the carrier drop spacer.

The shim the OP ordered is also a spacer. (one rotates the axle, the other drops the driveshaft).

OP, do you have driveline vibrations since the lift? If not I would leave it alone because that angle doesn't look horrible. If you do, then experiment with those angled shims under your leaf pack but no two trucks are the same so you're gonna have to find your sweet spot

Just a bit of shudder/stutter from still to go and after is OK.

I don't think any amount of driveline vibrations is okay. Hope you get it sorted with those shins. Definitely a better approach than spacing down your carrier bearing

Have rigged with zip ties an old iPhone and took a video of the driveshaft/pinion angle while driving to the local store in the hood at around 25-35mph. Need to shim it soon, it hunts for best angle in load rotation.
Is a bit longish at beginning from I set recording till driving.

Why not address axle wrap too/instead?
Working angle is 0-1 degree on the front u-joint; it has no companion u-joint to help cancel vibration. Middle and rear u-joint working angles are equal, to cancel each other. That is how you set up a 2-piece.

A carrier drops attempts to zero the middle angle and equalize the front and rear angles; much like a 1-piece non-cv. Not how it's done on a 2-piece.

I wonder what the effect on the ujoints is, since they have no zirc fittings and can never be lubed with such a radical shaft angle?
