I think these are really good looking wheels! I don’t personally prefer them on a tacoma but I think that it’s cool to see this blended style of wheel that reminds me of something you’d see on a German Tuner car or something. It’s also nice to see something different! I don’t like the idea of running lug centric wheels like this with a weak offset especially but it seems y’all have figured out how to remedy all of that.

Any problems getting your tires to mount up? I’m putting 265/70/17’s on, so almost the same as yours. Rim size for my tires is listed at 7”-8.5”, but these are a 9” rim.

I’m going with the Pirelli All Terrain Plus. I wanted something that I could run year round, on and off road, and had good snow traction for the winter. From reviews and ratings, they seemed to tick the boxes.
I’ll see what the tire shop says. I’ve found other sources that list them as 7”-9” rim.

They stick out more than I'd prefer on my GX, but I love the look of the wheels. Driveway photos are boring, but I'll just leave this here for now until I get it out somewhere nicer.

    Are you on stock suspension?

I read on another thread that people were rubbing with 265/70/R17s. Are you rubbing any?

Stock suspension, no plan to lift any at this time.
I did get some rubbing. I had to trim the inner portion of the front mud guards, where they overlapped the inner fender, because they were rubbing going lock to lock. Trimmed the inside corner of the fender flare a little, just where it squares off directly behind the tire, just as an added insurance.
I expect I may see some rubbing on more extreme suspension travel. So far I haven’t had a chance to test that. I’m hoping to get up into the mountains this week. Around town has been fine so far, once I trimmed.

Your truck looks so perfect!! I wanna pull the trigger on these wheels too but can’t decide whether to do 265/70/17 or 285/70/17 (will do 2” lift) but with the 9” wheel I think I’m gonna roll with your setup so I don’t have to do a cab mount chop

How much thread engagement is everybody getting with the factory lugs? Did you end up needing to replace studs?

As with most aftermarket wheels, factory mag lugs don't work with these. You will need acorn/conical style lugs, which achieve just over five revolutions of purchase on the studs. (Less than half of OEM engagement) Extended studs would be highly advisable.

With the VR lugs on the factory studs, you’ll get 5 1/2 to 6 turns once torqued. The picture shows a standard m12 nut on a factory stud for reference, at 5 1/2 turns.
I replaced studs. I bought a set off eBay, that were 60mm vs the stock 40mm. I ended up cutting them down to about 45mm. It looks like you can’t get anything over 50mm in on the front without pulling the axle. It seemed like 50mm was going to be too long and top out on the threads on the lugs. 45mm seems to be the sweet spot.

I am not an expert by any means so I ask this looking for an accurate answer...I LOOKS like the nut is fully engaged on the stud. Shouldn't that be sufficient?

It's less than half the width of a LUG nut.

Again, just trying to understand. As long as all the threads are engaged and the lug is torqued, I would thing that would be enough. I could understand if not all the threads were engaged...
