Dropping to a 65 profile in the 17” would be effectively the same.

Looks like black is still available on the venomrex website. Can I still order these through you?

Tire shop refused to put them on with the amount of thread exposed. They couldn’t give me a price to replace the studs. Even if they do it in 2 hrs they want $100 an hour. I called another shop that straight out refused to do the work.

If I replace the studs will the stock lugs bottom out if I had to run the spare or go back to stock wheels?

I'm surprised this isn't happening to a lot more people.

I just measured the inside threaded depth of a factory lug and came up with 35.37mm, so the additional 4.1- 5mm shouldn't pose a problem.

Alea iacta est .. once again

I went ahead and ordered extended studs from wheel adapter.com I hope they work out.

If I hadn’t just dumped another $65 into this project I’d be tempted to sell these wheels and cut my losses.

Engineered to fit the Tacoma my ass!

Are you going long and cutting, or going with the 44.1mm?

I’m going long and hoping I can make it work, they’re supposedly 1/2 longer than stock. If I have to cut em I will.

You can, but the vendor does not have them in stock. But he will ship them as soon as he gets them.

I am really sorry you guys are having issues with them. I am planning on replacing the studs as well when I get my tires. I have a little time to play with though. Venomrex said that toyota runs fairly short studs, is there any truth to that?

    Simple as that.

I'd be exceedingly disappointed if the correction isn't imminent.

The testing I did on mine, the stock should still work. That was one of the reasons I cut down to 45mm from the 50mm I started with. I wanted to be able to do either, and not have a problem with the spare.

Thanks, everyone! Looks like I'll wait and see if venomrex addresses this issue.

I think the problem with the wheels is that the mounting face is so thick. In order to get the -12mm offset they decided to just thicken the face instead of make the spokes more concave. I plan on replacing the studs in the near future.

Seems like the simple solution would be milling the 60degree countersinks 5mm deeper, but I’m no engineer.

I am already running 265/70/16. So going to a 265/70/17 shouldn't pose a problem right?

That's a 1" taller tire. I'd be at least prepared to mitigate a little rubbing. It could be as close as boiling down to what particular tire you go with.

Like jmneill said, that would be a 1” larger tire. All sizes have stayed the same, but the rim increased by an inch, so the tire increased by an inch. To keep it equivalent to stock, you would have to change the aspect ratio and have a shorter sidewall, or change the width and have a narrower tire, which would then shorten sidewall because aspect ratio is a percent of the tread width.

Heads up to have you're cutting tools on hand.
Overall length of the wheeladapter.co studs is 2 3/4. They're a full 1" longer than stock.
If you'd post a pic when they come in I'd greatly appreciate it. (I'd like to see the overall look, shoulder, serration, etc.)

A pic of ours, for reference.
