Anyone know of a tri-fold type tonneau that will lock over the tailgate like the solid types do?

They usually require a tailgate lock. The tonneau itself will lock down inside the bed but I have not see one that locks the tailgate (otherwise, how would you get to it to unlock it?)

Not looking to "lock" the tailgate per se. I've seen the Hhard cover tonneau covers that have a locking mechanism that engages over top of the tailgate. I believe Undercover has a model like that. Looking for a full bed access (folding type) that does the same thing.

I don't think you will find a soft cover that will prevent the tailgate from opening. I have a soft trifold on my truck and I just bought a locking handle for the tailgate. It works well and did not cost much off Ebay.

I believe I found the type I was looking for.

Looks like Fold-A-Cover has two models that will fold up as well as make the tailgate secure. The G4 Elite and the LS.

Anyone have experience with manufacturer and/or products?

    Thanks

Another thing I like about my setup is I can still lock the tailgate when I do not have the cover on the bed. This helps prevent tailgate theft.

I had the Undercover Tonneau(on my DCLB) and it went over the tailgate and I didn't need a tailgate lock. I've been looking at folding tonneau covers for my now Access Cab and I haven't been able to find one that folds over the tailgate. I think that if you are wanting to get a folding that I would suggest on you getting a pop-lock to secure your tailgate.

I looked at several tonneaus. G4 Elite was in my final two for low profile and security. The reason I didn't go with it was due to additional time and trouble to install and get it off if I needed the whole bed. I went with the Extang Solid Fold. It requires a pop & lock to secure the bed, but is far more secure than almost all the rest and installs/comes off literally in a few minutes.

I have one! It's obsolete now but it resembles the G4 elite. I can lock it up front and at the back, locking the tailgate closed and the cover is then impossible to get into unless you punch a hole through the aluminum.
