    That looks so much better!

Can I ask how much was it to get them powder coated?

The wheels were $400 and the centercaps were $10 each.
    $440 total.

    OR wheels.
Had I not found and put on the vinyls, I'd likely still not care for them .
I knew , converting them to all black would save my opinion .
Bought and applied the vinyls .
    Zero flaws/zero issues/zero fails .
The vinyls on these wheels totally made it for me .
(Note: I shopped a LOT of other wheels including the Toyota TRD wheels ; cared for nothing out there )
Opinions are funny things .Everybody has some. 20190314_155528.jpg

    Very true, indeed.

The vinyls I got were not good.

Making a set of decidedly ugly wheels work with some creative thinking, while more difficult, is also more interesting than just buying a set of new wheels.

BTW, what tires did you get? No lift, correct?

These wheels are by no means gorgeous, not even powder coated. But painted black they seem to work with the overall look of the truck. That and some meatier tires.

I will look into getting them powder coated.

I went the vinyl route myself for the time being.. adding a little color gave it some pop.. no issues whatsoever w my vinyl decals.. they grip the wheels like a champ.. doing my suspension lift & aggressive tires this weekend..

If/when the vinyls fail, I will powder coat. Did it with my '02 Taco . Supremely pleased.
My '16; no lift . But Sumo Springs to help support the canopy/275 tongue weight combo when I tow. 25% of my '16 miles are towing. 20181121_134455.jpg

OP, I share your feelings about the TRD OR wheels. I recently posted a thread where (among other complaints) I mentioned that those wheels were horrible and that I believed that had the caveman who originally invented the wheel known that his creation would have led to these hideous things, he would have destroyed the wheel in order to spare the world. What I found was that a lot of people LOVE these wheels. This is great news for you and I, as we should have no trouble selling ours when we opt to install something less objectionable.

I don’t personally think they are a bad looking wheel. I just think that most people change them to set there truck apart from most of the others. I put the vinyl on my oem wheels when I had them because I didn’t like the machined finish. The vinyl looked just as good after six months as it did when I first put it on but I only did that until I could get my hands on a set of ray10’s which took me six months lol.

I agree that people in general like to swap wheels to customize their trucks. But I still find these wheels in particular “attractively challenged.” Whatever vision the designer of these wheels had in mind appears to have gotten lost in translation.

From the photos I’m seeing these wheels don’t look too bad on Quicksand, Cement, Gray and Cavalry Blue, but for some reason they really stand out on White. When we paint these wheels black, all we are doing is reduce their distracting effect on the overall look of the truck.

It is great that there are people out there who like these wheels. Just like it is great that people out there like Subarus and Priuses enough to buy them.

One thing I want to avoid is powder coat them and then sell them a few months later. The cost of powder coating four wheels is about the same as buying a new set and selling these. That’s why I want to make a decision and stick with it.

    Nice.

Looks like you got a lift? What tire size did you get?
