I personally think it looks pretty darn good, many plate bumpers diffuse the large flat front look by having cut outs for winches and lighting and I think that could work out in your favor here as well. Plus once you paint it black you'll notice that the bottom of it disappears a bit due to shadowing. Unless you are going to hang some lighting off of the hoop I would replace it with some round tubing that is bent to the general outline of the grille and headlights.

Either way it'll make a good Bambi beater (hopefully you won't have to test that). Again for what it's worth it looks pretty cool with your bed configuration.

I had the exact same problem when I did mine. After I cut in a a relief for a winch farelead and cut holes for the driving lights, It completely changed the look.

    It looks great.

I'd love to do a winch, but I rarely ever wheel, and for the cost I don't think I could justify a good setup, I do like the lighting idea though, and cutting some holes in it was a plan as well, but I don't have anything to cut it with personally. And no one around has a plasma cutter that I know of. And sadly I'm pretty sure aftermarket off road lights are illegal to use here I'm VT, and as it is this truck is a cop magnet, blinkers are fast because they're LEDs, wheels stick way past the bed, etc.

Yeah, bambi smasher was the plan. I see more cars get totaled by animals here, and I didn't want to be one of those people. Nice vault tec guy by the way ;)

I agree a winch will break up front piece a bit and would look better. Winch is just a nice tool to have when needed so pick up a cheap one if you dont plan on using it much. Either way i think you are fine. Nice looking truck.

Weighs about 120 lbs I think. Not sure though. Mounting brackets are another 20 lbs or so.

I have a secret. I never installed my winch, only got as far as building the winch farelead inset and bolting on the farelead. It hurts nothing. I doubt I ever will buy a winch.

I think it's pretty cool. Looked rugged and original. Some bedliner or black paint will do wonders for the aesthetic (IMO)

Wouldn't be too hasty to paint it black. With your chrome grill and silver wheels, there might be other options. Consider that even a two tone at the right break line level, with the bottom black and the upper in an appropriate silver gray would visually make the bumper smaller. A plate, flush fogs on the wings, winch slot as mentioned, all work to change it up.

As for finishing product, I'd be looking at www.monstaliner.com. On a truck with the look you are working there is no way I'd be doing paint or chunky bedliner.

Oh yea. I like it. Needs a bit of finishing up, but it will be unique like the rest of the truck.

I like it! :thumbsup:I think adding some round bar hoops over the headlights similar to the ARB style hoops to mix with the square barwould look killer! Add some nice big 8 or 9 in lights in the center.
Finally you could do some cutouts for fogs and winch
Quick sketch up from my phone.

Maybe take off the bar thing infront of the grille.. that might make a difference? I think its pretty sweet. It'd be fun to put a winch in there with two cube lights on the sides.. I like that bumper! lol. If you sell it, ill buy from you haha

I like that a lot actually, might have to bend up some tubing. Still have to figure out a way to cut out the holes though.

You can probably do the side lights with a hole saw, for metal use of course. The winch hole and view port with smaller hole saws and a cutoff wheel would do it. I'm sure if you went back to the guy he'd be glad to do it. these are more like add on than taking away from his work.

I'm with everyone else, it fits the truck perfectly. If you were stock it would be a different story. Before I even read your post, I scrolled down to the pic and thought it looked badass.

I think it looks good with the flat bed on the other end. Looks like a John Wayne truck, rough and tough and doesn't take shit off anyone or anything. I do think it would look more like you are wanting if you would make some cutouts for a winch even if you aren't going to install one. Light cut outs will need some tubing welded in behind the cutout to hold the lights in.
