I'm looking for a toolbox for my dcsb. I want something that will sit flat in the bed with pull out drawers. I've found one that I really like, but they don't make a model narrow enough to fit in between the wheel wells. Anybody know of anything similar to this? I'm going to be putting a camper top on, and I like this design because it allows total access to the length of the bed without having to crawl in the bed, and my dogs can get right on top of it.

They're a bit hard on the wallet, but the TruckVault is really nice.

Those do look great! I sent request for a quote, so we'll see how that goes. The cargo glide that will allow you to slide out the entire contents of the bed seems like a really nice feature.

Before I picked up my truck, I was looking for bed storage options as well. Came across Decked and really liked their setup, but they only make setups for full-size trucks. I did ask them if they had any plans to equip the new Tacomas and they said possibly.
In the meantime, I'm looking into plans to build my own storage setup. Check out Prinsu's build; not exactly what I was looking to do, but very close. It may provide some inspiration for ya.

Once I get around to my Taco & build I plan on doing one of the All-Weather TruckVaults, possibly with a cargo-glide.

I looked at Decked also. Love the price point...hate the aesthetics.

The other issue with the Decked design is you are giving up a third of the usable space so they can make it in plastic.
But that said if the made a Taco model I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
But as they don't, I will make my own.

Truck vault seems like a good option for me at the moment, but got the quote back for $3300 without the cargo glide. Yikes!

Also found one made by ARE called the pickup vault which looks very similar.

I'll keep the thread posted if I get any more good info.

The picture that I posted in the OP was made by Rimrock MFG and they advertise that the drawers have 600lb capacity each. But, none of the other manufacturers have posted their drawer capacity which is a big deal for me as I'll have a lot of tools loaded into them.

yeah, kinda what I was thinking.

And, if anyone is interested, the drawer capacity of the A.R.E. pickup vault is 200# evenly distributed.

Not sure if a drawer loaded down with wrenches and sockets etc would exceed that. I'd imagine that it would.

I'm looking for a box that would go under the Factory Tonneau that came on the truck. Anyone come across anything yet?

I notice there are "cut outs" in the top of the wheel wells that would serve as keepers but I'm not having any luck finding a "slim" box that opens toward the back of the truck.

Rimrock quoted $1750 for their box 41 inches wide by 58 inches long which basically gives a half inch on every side. And, I priced a weatherguard pack rat 9 inches deep 40 inches wide by 48 inches deep at $1150.

So far my favorite option is the truck vault. but there weatherproof version is basically $3500.

When did tool boxes get so expensive?

From what I hear from folks that deal with TruckVault products on the regular, they're of very poor quality. I've no experience with them, but at $2500+, I'd never even consider them as an option.

As it happens, I am also thinking about mounting some low-profile drawers on top of my bed slide, and then making a full-width sleeping platform to sit on top of the drawers. Alternatively, if I can find drawers that will be 40-41" in width and take up the entire 6' bed length, I'll mount the bed slide on top of them.

Here are a few vendors/options I found over the last few days:
    - http://www.pickupspecialties.com/toolboxes/brute_hd_bedsafe_aluminum_roller_drawers.html

    - http://www.bcupfitters.com/adrian-steel
    - http://www.americanvan.com/floor-st...-drawers/flat-floor-drawer-storage-units.html

I like the last item the most. If I could get them to make a 40"-wide (or even their existing 36" version) with only two drawers (instead of 3), I'd be all over that. Haven't spoken to them yet.

rimrock mfg got back with me. $1595 +tax +shipping for a custom size to fit in tacoma. 41inches wide by 58 inches long. Which basically gives half an inch on all sides. I think I'm going to get that one because it seems really well made and is reasonably priced compared to the others and has a considerably higher capacity. And, it doesnt sit quite as high. I'll post pictures once I get it in and installed.
