I just picked up a pair of Fox 2.5 coil overs used. I am so excited! This will be my first big mod. I was able to get the shocks , buts that’s it.

What else will I need to install these on my stock 18 Sport 4x4

I would love to hear from someone who has just replaced the shocks if that’s possible at all.

I’m thinking the fox website says these are direct replacements and no other mods will be needed ? I am broke soo I’d love to not have to get a ton more parts to use these, but would rather have the needed parts before I start the project.

    Thanks!

TRD Pro suspension with Headstrong 3 Leaf AAL, DV8 OR front slimline bumper & Engine Skid Plate, RCI OR high clearance bumper, CaliRaised Trail Edition Sliders, Spidertrax 1.25" Wheel Spacers, 265/75 16 GY Duratracs, wrapped the OEM wheels, OR Roof Rack, Extang Exceed Hard top Tri fold tonneau.
A floor jack, 6 ton jack stands (Not for the weight, but for the height), and good torque wrench along with your regular tools is about all you need. There are a lot of videos on YouTube to help you to visualize the swap. I replaced my stock TRD OR suspension with TRD Pro Fox and it took me about 3 1/2 hours total, front and rears, could have been much quicker, but I took my time and referred to the video a number of times during the install to make sure I did things right. You will also need to budget for a wheel align once you've completed the swap. Good luck!

You can remove your sway bar all together or buy the frame spacers. As others stated you’ll need an alignment. How high do you plan on lifting?

Lots of write ups but just a quick guide:

    1. disconnect sway bar
    2. support hub assembly with bungee chord to frame.
    3. remove spindle nut, hit the spindle with a hammer on the flat cast portion only.
    4. remove lower shock mount bolt
    5. remove the 3 top hat bolts
    6. use pry bar on lower control arm between the frame to drop out the strut assembly.
    7. Once the Fox shocks are bolted in adjust driver side higher for the gas tank lean, approximately 3 threads more than passenger. When adjusting, lube the threads and be careful not to back the adjustment collar Alan bolt all the way out.

There is no need to touch the tie rod ends, the hub will simply swing away. I personally haven’t used a sway bar in 8 years, you could leave that off and let your new suspension work correctly.

You dont need a swaybar relocate if you deleted the swaybar altogether.
Op, just don’t go higher then 2 inches and you don’t need any additional parts

If you’re broke, keep your truck stock and sell the coilovers.

They are stiff enough to be able to run without a swaybar. I had 600lb springs initially and it was fine. Its even better with 700lb coils and steel plated front bumper and winch now.

Agreed, I ran those same Fox shocks for 60k miles on 600lb springs with no sway bar. They are stiff enough and the beauty of IFS allows the suspension to cycle up. I would not do it on a straight axle Wrangler.

Are the OEM fox springs 600? I have some 14" king 650's that I need to pick up from powdercoat. Maybe I'll pull the bar and see how she feels

@Cutdown, seriously man, if you’re short on cash, I really suggest passing up on modding your truck at all. The second you start changing the stock components is when other things start breaking or wearing out prematurely.

When you put these coil overs on, your going to find immediately that you need an alignment. Then, you’re likely going to hear a growling noise from your needle bearing.

seriously consider if you’re ready for the rabbit hole, it will take time and money, if you don’t have it now, don’t do it.

    /fatherly advice

I agree that there are many expensive trickle down effects of lifting but the needle bearing is a bandwagon “issue” that predominantly is replaced out of preventative maintenance, not failure. I pulled mine out after 200,000 miles, 100k of that with a 3” lift and 33s....no wear, no evidence of side loading at all, perfect condition. I installed the ECGS sleeve but I’m not convinced it’s necessary and won’t be doing it on my 2021. Point is, a growling needle bearing or wheel vibes are not a “most likely” occurrence.

OP just set those to 2”, run no larger than 275/70 and you should have no major daily driving issues. Your soonest maintenance will be a seal rebuild on the shocks, just watch for leaking oil from shock piston wiper seal.

That’s fair, I havnt replaced mine either. But I know A LOT who have NEEDED to replace and even more who have had their entire front diff replaced because of that issue.
The point stands. It’s a rabbit hole and can get expensive (relative to your bank account).

Do a quick left to right flick and you'll definitely notice it. Regular driving at normal speeds most likely you wont.
