I have been holding off on buying my first Tacoma since they announced the updates for 2016, and I am ready to pull the trigger as soon as I can. I was thinking of heading to the dealer today to see if I an put down a refundable deposit to reserve one of their first allocations, and I was just wondering if anyone has any tips for me? I am fairly certain I want a DCSB TRD Sport, though I really prefer the look of the OR wheels, but I am unsure on the color until I see them all (but most likely white). Would I need to choose a color to reserve? And if I preferred the OR for pricing reasons, would I be able to switch, or do I need to be specific with the allocation?

I am also reluctant to wait until after the 17th, when very well may be a rush on orders.

    Any input is appreciated.

Go see the inventory manager. They can take an allocation order and convert it to something more of your preference.

This^^^^ I did the same a few weeks ago, let them know what I wanted and they "submit" what you want as
one of their allocation orders, based on location and what they can get option wise that's what you'll get. Be aware though
you may not get all of the options you want this way, the dealer can only submit this to Toyota - approval of the submission
    is still up to Toyota.

For instance, when I placed my order they were able to get everything I wanted BUT the JBL system is one of the
options that was submitted but approval of whether it will be on there or not is still up in the air as is the price of the
truck and the price of the option packages. So if you're good with a bit of the unknown go for it.

Is there an option to get the JBL system without the technology package?

No idea, I would assume it's part of the Technology and Premium package.

My dealer told me you can only get the JBL sound system with the Limited Taco . . . . Was hoping I could get the TRD Sport I ordered with a JBL upgrade, but they said no way . . . .

Not true. I have a DCLB TRD Sport coming with everything the Limited gets except the leather.

The leather is coming from someone else...and should be gloriously custom.

Nope... Excluding leather, I'll have everything the Limited has on my DCSB TRD 4x4 Sport. I'm still undecided on the leather and the
dealer uses an outside vendor for that anyway so if I decide I want it, I'm sure I can find a shop to do it with a better price as the
dealer will just add an extra cost onto it after having the shop they use install it.

I don't understand the rush to be the first. Wait till the Tacoma is on the lots. Drive the vehicle. Give it some time to see what reviews say.

I most likely will purchase a Tacoma in the next 8-12 months. If you wait, you may get a better deal than purchasing in Aug/Sept.

    anyway.

I went down (haven't committed to anything yet), and the dealer gave me a printout for the closest one they have on allocation. I haven't seen one here, so I thought I would post it, minus identifying information, to see if there is any new interesting information. It appears that navigation is standard in the TRD Sport package, if I am reading this right? Thoughts?

Point taken. However, it is essentially zero risk. They already told me they will order exactly what I want with a $500 refundable deposit, and if I change my mind when it hits the lot, then I'm off the hook. They will sell it to somebody else easy.

Exactly. There's no out-of-pocket risk so go for it. I've done the same thing and the deposit is refundable, no questions. I'd
rather go down and check it out when it arrives knowing it's mine if I love it.

Am I the only one who didn't have to put a deposit down?

If all Tacomas were the exact same configuration and pre-ordering got you a special driving outfit, you would be exactly right! But since they are not, this would ensure that my preferred configuration will be on the lot for me to look at before deciding to buy it. Even if you don't, I definitely do consider that a perk.

Yep, no perks in pre ordering, except the dealer gets to draw the interest on the deposit that a buyer gives them.

By winter/spring dealers will have plenty of Tacoma pickups on the lot to choose from.

You won't get what you want, especially color.
    Dealer has your money.
In some states they don't have to refund your deposit, by law.
You won't be the first, if you pre order now.
You will pay more than the rest who wait.
