I have a Fold-A-Cover on my 19 TRDOR. I like it because the Front (cab) panel can be accessed (and is lockable) separately from the main set of panels. I also think it has a better lock system than some of the others. It uses a striker system similar to a door latch and has a key lock. It does not sit as flush with the rail as some others, but for me, the other aspects outweigh the top-rail mount.

I specifically like the back of cab access because I keep my emergency stuff, recovery, and additional fuel (when I carry it) there.

Exactly the same for me on all counts.

For me the Diamondback was the only option, everything else is a waste of money and plastic.

To have a cover that's water proof, secure, and strong enough to load things on top is worth every penny.

I have the Bak Flip MX4. 3 Year test review.
Pros. Well Built operates as in tended and secure.
Cons. A few of the rivets that attach the spring loaded locking device developed rust. Some did some did not. Scratches easily I learned this early when laid some tools on it. They were minor until recently while closed a rubber bumper became dislodged. It exposes the aluminum. Minor leaks and I never cared to address this issue.
I would buy this again esp. if you have to use your bed from time to time.

Tsk tsk, diamondbacks are as easy to remove and reattach as any hard tonneau (albeit slightly heavier). Looks are of pure opinion, and at <$1400 for the SE (which can handle an RTT just fine), less than twice that of a bakflip, all the while being significantly more durable, weatherproof, secure, and reliable over time. I had a bakflip X4 on my raptor, and I would say "RIP ever conveniently using your pickup truck as a pickup truck" still sort of applied lol.

No need to trash something you may have little to no experience with (not assuming one way or the other). They are preference, especially for those who want that security, weatherproofing, and the ability to still rack heavy weight on. If someone is running a hard tonneau, they may be doing so for exactly the above reasons and might value that over "using their pickup truck as a pickup truck". It's just an SUV with an external trunk anyway :D

I paid 1500 shipped for a black diamondback SE, certainly not 3x the cost of the more popular ones.

    Lomax trifold - $880
    Bakflip. - 970
    Rough country - 650

All of the above options are made out of much cheaper thin material that inflate how much weight you can put on top. You could purchase the no coated one for 300 less and paint it yourself.

It comes off with 4 bolts in 5 minutes and I'd say back on it 10. I've folded up the back section and picked up appliances before. It's not going to be as secure as the above options, or as light, but frankly it's worth it. Canopy's are not secure period, unless they're full metal box, and then they're super heavy and ugly.

Looks are subjective but I've had this for 3 months and constantly have people coming up to me to ask me what cover this is, or talk about it because they want one. One guy yelled at me on a highway because he wanted to pull over and check it out.

For me I have many outdoor activities and hundreds of dollars of equipment in the back at any given time, or I'll leave some things in it while parked at a remote Trailhead. Not having glass or thin enough metal to be peirced with a butter knife is important to me.

100% recommend a Peragon cover. https://www.peragon.com/ Big selling point for me was its metal, it locks, it works with my bed rack, collapses down and it comes off easy if I need my entire bed. They have videos on their site of all the functions and options available. Made in america and customer service is pretty top notch.

I got an older Bakflip MX4 used on Craigslist for $700 and I'm very happy.

Easy Install. Removes in 5 minutes. Its awesome. Its not the 'most' secure, but it keeps the honest people honest.

I'm a lot less concerned about my cover than my vehicle.

Forgot they offered color matching, bummer they couldn't get you the color you wanted. I went classic black.

I got the Toyota trifold tonneau cover when I got my 2018 and really like it. It doesn't lock, but it latches into the bedrail and will effectively be locked when the tailgate is locked. It also does a great job keeping the bed dry and is very sturdy.

I vote Diamondback. I found mine on their outlet site with only thing "wrong" was three lighter spots in the coating. Nothing functional wrong and was only $1300 shipped. Honestly expensive yes, but locked and pretty waterproof so far (at least as much as the bed caps allow it to be waterproof but no fault of the diamondback). I can remove panels in 5 minutes and entire cover in 10 if needed. Love the looks and security.image0.jpg

For the regular store, you just buy them and they make them to order. The outlet store is as they come available from damage or defect, but it is updated daily, so just keep an eye out!
