Looking for touch up paint for your truck?

I just learned something today. Hopefully I dont look like an idiot but I have been searching everywhere for touch up paint for my Silver streak mica 2007 toyota tacoma. I called every NAPA, Autozone, AdvanceAuto and O'Reilly's in the area and even contacted the local Toyota Dealership and they are also out. So I called Maco and asked if they could mix up some touch up paint that I could by, they couldnt but directed my to Sherwin Williams, I wouldve never thought of this I thought they were strictly household paint. Sure enough they mixed up a perfect match for $13!

 

How is it packaged tho? For me, part of the benefit of the touch-up paint from the dealer was the double-ended pen with the pump-action tip, very easy to use.

 

I bought a color matched paint pen on Amazon for $10.

Personally I don't like to order stuff I like to go get it from a store. Idk 26 yr old with an old soul. Plus usually when I get those touch up pens I end up using the brush anyway. If I would've went to napa or any of those stores and they would had it I would've bought it but just letting everyone know that's Sherwin Williams will do it. I'm sure others are have difficulty finding this paint as well. Just providing an alternative.

One of Oreillys around us can custom mix. Had some done up for one of my older cars. Perfect match.

 

Thats pretty cool. So did they mix you up a pint of it or ?? I would have never thought of that in a million years.

 

Actually I requested less, just wanted touch up. Think I ended up with about half pint, then hey also gave me a touch up container with little brush to put in. But you can pretty much ask for what ever quantity you want. What's really cool is if you have a faded paint job, they can match it. Just take the vehicle along with so they can scan the color.

Yea they only gave me a small amount for touch up. It matched perfect and it matched perfect to the 16" oem alloy wheels also.

 

Whats the prep work for using one of those paint pens??

 

Clean the area of any debris or dust, then slap it on!

 

Haha sweet nice and simple. Might have to get one for my fenderflares and rear bumper, alot of rock chips haha

 

It's expensive, but I've had really great experience with dr. color chip.
