Hi there, over the last year or so I have been getting into off-roading, but I can't seem to ever find quality trails in my area. In more into the mild to moderate off-roading, something that's doesn't completely beat the piss out of my truck. Ive been to Tahuya, Reiter, and and planning on going to Walker Valley, however the problem with these offroad parks, at least for me is that I never seem to actually end up going anywhere other than in a circle, and i understand that the point of an ohv park. But what I'm looking for is not only ohv parks but more offroad trails or old logging and forest roads that can actually take you somewhere. Ive have attempted to ask around which locals but the people I've talked to are kinda hush hush and secretive about trails which totally understand, its ridiculous the amount of trash on trails these days, I'm a firm believer in you take out what you take in. So if anyone has any trails in the Seattle area they are willing to share I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

When the shelter in place order is lifted you can find forest service roads in the National Forests nearby. Check out the Motor Vehicle Use Maps on each NF website for a legal trails. Pay attention to the Alerts and Warnings on the NF page. Check out the pages for the 4 NF in your area to find the one that is most convenient to you and what recreation opportunities exist.

The MVUM's are great. While they don't really have trail descriptions with difficulty ratings, for the most part they are just fire roads.

While that doesn't mean they're all easy (the Rubicon is a county road, lol), if you hit a hard section, you can always just turn around, and find another route.

There's a phone app I've used called Avenza, and you can download (for free) NF MVUMs as geoPDF's and store them on your phone for off grid navigation. Basically any app that can ingest a geoPDF will read them, but Avenza is free...

There are other maps that I really like, and I have a bunch from CA, but it's the Nat Geo Trails Illustrated maps. They're high quality, and printed on that water resistant paper.

Okay, so I know this is for Nor Cal. but I'm pretty sure this is a series, so there might be one done for Washington, too. It's a great book, well written, and has tons of descriptions and GPS coordinates for waypoints.
