If you sell to them it will literally be the easiest process selling a car you have ever had. They are great. No BS or games. Even if I could get another $1500 or so selling private it is not worth it dealing with buyers. Carvana is just easy.

I've sold a car to carvana a few months ago and agree it is super easy. I live near one of their stores, so they gave me an extra hundred bucks or so to bring the car to them. The process literally took 10-minutes. All they did was plug an OBDII scan tool, drive it 20 ft, and called it good. Once inside, they handed me a check and I was out.

Doesn't Alabama have a stupid high sales tax, like 10%? You'll lose the tax credit if you don't trade. 40,500 - 4,050 = 36,450 net. Dealer offer is better.

I believe it's lower for vehicles, around a 4% tax. Certainly still a factor to consider when balancing dealer trade vs selling elsewhere.

10K seems to be too big of a loss for your current truck. Used auto prices are high right now, so if you're determined to do a deal, I wouldn't wait too long. Definitely get out of the SE region. There are deals out there but it will take some looking - and the links provided by JB TN, who is very knowledgeable, don't appear to have the premium package. Good luck.

Very easy decision, brand new truck that’s worth way more than the 18k difference. The 3rd gen doesn’t compete or come close to the 4th gen. Do it and don’t look back you’ll be glad you did

Thought that was the state portion and local cities/counties usually added another 1-2%?

No matter - if it's just 2% that's great for giving flexibility on selling vs trading.

My local dealer found a '25 TRD OR Premium in silver and came off MSRP $3700 + a $500 rebate with the only add on being a spray in bed liner for $699 and the Multi-media screen protector for $129.

I'm going to sleep on it but I think I'm going to trade in my '23 TRD OR and pay them $14999 OTD. Doing this way will only cost me $432 in tax. If I sell my truck and buy the new truck out right then tax will be $1532 (~3%). I might be able to come out $1100 ahead selling to Carvana and them buying this truck but it would be some extra hassle.... hmmm. How is the Carvana experience?

    Edited to add: "+ a $500 rebate"

I've never used Carvana but from everything I've heard and read, it's hassle free.

I posted my experience with carvana. Super easy sale. Pre-emptive congratulations on the new truck :) you're going to love it.

On a side note I really like the spray in bed liner! It doesn't feel like it will peel in anyway and I wish my previous Tacomas had it.

Could you share what you like about it?

I'm shopping 4th gens, and always had a bed mat in my 3rd gen, so I'm unsure what benefit the spray in liner gives with the composite bed.

(Not that this $699 option is easily avoided without traveling outside of SETD territory... )

Money down on the truck. I was told 12 days out. I'm pretty sure I'm going to sell to Carvana to save the $1100. I plan to drive the '23 as little as possible to keep the miles off it.

Does the spray in bed liner prevent sliding around? Do you still feel like you need a bed mat?

Are you going to pay the $14,999 cash or finance? Usually to get the rebate you have to finance with Toyota. Don't remember if it was 5K or 10K minimum. I paid the "loan" in full as soon as they emailed me the info (about 7-10 days later). Had to pay I think $13 interest so I netted $487 of the rebate.

The spray in is a joke, you'll still need a bed mat to prevent sliding around.

Pretty sure I'm going to sell current truck to Carvana for $39200 and take that along with ~$14k to dealer when truck comes in.

Me thinks you could negotiate even harder with a full cash offer, scenario is you tried to trade truck in but got a better offer elsewhere requiring you to do more work...so now here's my offer.....$XXXX. Dealerships arent in the business to lose money, especially after the BS they have gotten away with in the last 5.
