Depends on what your needs and requirements are. We have a 2015 Cricket and have put about 20K miles on it in 5 years. It checked all of our boxes:

    1) It fits in our garage
    2) We can stand up in it
    3) It's light enough to tow easily
    4) Off-road capable
    5) 12V electric and potable water systems
    6) INSIDE kitchen
    7) Good in bad weather
    8) Plenty of room for two

Yes, we've had problems with ours, including frame cracks and a bad torsion axle, but Taxa took care of all of them. Would I buy another one? Not at their current prices. BUT, finding a small camper that met all of our needs was really, really difficult. We've had a lot of good times in ours, have camped in it all OVER the western U.S., and it's still going. When we get ready to replace it in several years I'm not sure which way we'll go, but there are a lot more choices out there than in 2015. Good luck on your search.

Definitely make a list of what you want and what kind of trips you are planning, there are a ton of different setups out there and they are all good for different things..
We do the family camping trips for one or two weeks- started when our youngest was 6 months old. Kids beds, bath, toilet, kitchen and heater were requirements.
Ended up with a 19flb Hideout- she's a pavement princess for sure- rough roads would rip off all the jacks and shake everything out of the cupboards..

But once it's unhooked and set up it makes a sweet base camp for exploring an area.

Yah, the bathtub is tiny and the walls are only 8" high, its more for bathing my son. If I need a bath I jump in the river

Yeah we looked at one and I told the guy there was no way it was worth even having and they had the shower one as well so we jumped on thay for the same price. I came home and upgraded the shower head though to a low flow high pressure one.

I have the fever for a camping trailer. So, YouTube search for overland trailers, overland expo, and best small trailers. All kinds of great videos. Hiker has been mentioned a couple times, they are very affordable, and appear to be a solid option for me. At the high end of a camping trailer are Patriot Trailers, they appear to be bulletproof.

Both are Stock - built correct from the start.
Look used. Buying an rv new is one of the worst financial decisions possible. Read up on it. There’s so many barely used out there. Especially the way things are now. The rv is the first thing to go if you don’t have a job. Look around.

I assume many of you like the slow depreciation value on the Tacoma, it's worth considering when purchasing a camper.

Airstream**, Bigfoot and Casita hold their value in my experience.

My vote is a Casita travel trailer with upgraded 15" wheels/tires, a couple inch lift and the aftermarket shock kit.

I've owned 3 Casitas and have had a lot of fun adventures with very little money spent.

** With the airstream.. perhaps not bought new but a couple / few years old at least.

I had one of those StarCraft AR-One 14.5RB. Bought it used for 10k, beat the hell out of it and then cleaned it up and sold for 11k. Hit all the national parks from the rockies west and up to Canada. It was a blast with the family.

I have dreams of selling my cabin and getting this camper:
    https://www.opuscamper.us/op15/

My wife says it looks really comfortable and that she hopes I enjoy it.

Looks like a nice rig. I see no price on the website so I'm guessing it's one of those "If you have to ask the price you can't afford it" products?

I saw somewhere they start at $45K. Look at the whole line up. They are incredible. Also, they are in Australia I think. But still ...

I’ve owned trailers over my life. The type of trailer I want, is the kind that will be able to anywhere my truck can go. If I had a bigger truck, and only wanted to go to established areas, I’d go bigger. If a had a prissy wife, and multiple kids, then more luxury.

I like camping, always have. I don’t need a fancy trailer. There are tons of options for whatever needs people have, but the most important thing, by far, get a trailer that fits your needs, that you can also safely pull with your truck.

We aren't fancy folks and wanted something compact and simple and able to get off the road and away from campgrounds when we wanted to. the Tiger Moth is not a rock crawling grade rugged camper but it is well built and fully capable of fire roads and some rough trails. We were Girl Scout leaders for 17 years and with me having some health issues the tent camping was done. The TM is pretty much like a hard sided tent it is tiny. No indoor bathroom and the kitchen is a pull out drawer in the rear. It suited our basic need perfectly especially knowing I would be modifying it to completely suit us and make it completely self sufficient. we hadd looked at many teardrops and really liked them but this gave us the availabillity of sitting up in the camper with it's deign. We found a left over 2016 in 2017 at a greatly reduced price. Dry weight stock was around 900 pounds. I have added dual solar and batteries and greatly modified the front of the frame to allow for a large box I fabbed for storage and to house the fridge. Even with that it is a very basic setup.

I get this isn't for everybody but it suits our needs. When it's hot we can camp at a state park with electric and use the AC
