Another vote for A-Frame style pop-up. Easy to tow, quick to setup, relatively cheap, and has tons of options in a small footprint. Found this one (2018 Rockwood Premier A122) lightly used for $7K. Love it. Is it made from some cheaper materials? Sure. But being a level above tent camping, how luxurious do you need it to be?

This is our rig, a 2006 Casita Spirit Deluxe 17 ft travel trailer. We have owned and used it 11 yrs with great success. Fits in smaller campsites if need be. Has a front bath, side dinette/bed, and rear dinette/bed we keep made up permanent as a bed with memory foam mattress. The trailer is a very good investment if you keep things up, they do not drop in value very fast, I could still get what I paid for this 11K not that we want to sell, similar to Tacoma's values. The factory is in Rice Texas. No dealers.

I wanted a Nobo 16.6 but we couldn't get the local dealers to negotiate on them at all. Ended up getting a Wolf Pup 16BHS and have been happy with it. It's about a 100lbs lighter than the Nobo but no slide.

A quick update on our first camping trip with the tacoma and the jayco SLX 184BH.

Ended up getting a husky Weight distribution hitch with rating of 400-600 lbs tongue weight. Oh man did this make a huge difference! I towed the trailer without a WD hitch when I took it home and it was ok, can definitely feel the cross wind more and the tad bit lighter steering. When we left for our trip there was a storm brewing and it was quite windy, it felt so much better with the WD installed. In my opinion and short experience the WD hitch is definitely nice too have.

Towing mirrors I think is a must, we got a camco rubber clip ons and they were absolutely horrendous they just shake and vibrate as soon as you get to highway speeds. I returned the camco ones and bought a Grand aero in facebook marketplace for 30 bucks which looks to be a lot sturdier(we will see how they go this weekend).

The transmission definitely needs to be in either S4 or 5, didnt really put ECT on too much.

All in all the tacoma towed the trailer well, I will be taking another camping trip this weekend and i guess we will see how she goes.
