That's exactly the deal I got after doing my homework. I told the salesman I would not pay their Dealer Holdback fee and another fee that Toyota reimburses them for if the car is sold from their lot within 90 days.

OEM running boards and roof rack. Yellow fog bulbs and WeatherTech mats and window visors.
Auto show time is also a good time to buy with all the rebates and deals....tho the tacoma doesnt really participate in most of those. Got mine at the end of Feb, 09 DC Short OR 4x4 for 27000

Yeah I know, and i'm laughing all right, not sure if i'm crazy or just insane, but I have never had a brand new truck, and figure at the age of 40 it's time to go big or keep driving the old beater;)

Got to have the longbed - shortbed won't do it, can't fit my surfboard in the SB
Got to have the DC - Da boys gotta have a place to be confortable going up to the Sierras and prop. here in the mountains, 4x4 needed to get to property.
Got to have the JBL sound to rock out
Got to have the tow package to hull the boat to the harbor
Got to have the fog lights for California fog, there's no shortage of that
    Hmmm what else?

I recently got a 2010 DC 4x4 LB in SF bay area for 29K with all options except TRD. Expect to pay extra 1K for the TRD. I should have got a TRD instead.

Inventory is very low at local dealers especially for DC 4x4 with LB. Usually there are on one or two DC with LB at each dealer. Difficult to drive the price down.

Im also in the market for a new Tacoma. Im using this car buying service in San Diego that my bank deals with. I was offered this today.

2010 Tacoma 4x4 double cab, automatic, shortbed, silver mica
    -Trd Sport w/JBL Audio
    -Towing package
    -floor mats
    -daytime running lights
$30,200 plus tax/license, comes out to around $33k out the door... $1625 off msrp

I think thats about average what peeps pay in Americas finest city. Remember socal has a higher cost of living.

If you are on a budget but want a tacoma maybe these few points will help you.

    1. Don't buy certified used. The mileage on them is way to high with respect to the price; that is to say these bastards hold their value far too well.

    2. When shopping for a new one at the dealership, ask to see the invoice for the vehicle. This is the amount the dealership paid for the truck. By just doing this they will know you know what you are doing. You shouldn't have to pay any more than $1000 over this. My buddy just got one yesterday for $500 over the invoice.

    3. If you are trading something in, don't bring it up until the paper work is well under way. When everything is falling into place, then bring up your trade because by this stage, they know they are close to a sale and will be more willing to give you a better price. Its just going to go to the auction anyways, they aren't going to lose money here.

    4. Do you really need a TRD off road or sport? This SR5 power package comes with lots of good stuff and good power too. The main selling point to the off road is the rear diff lock, which you can install on a truck for <$1000 including labour.

    5. Haggle with them over bullshit things like "Administrative Fees" and other loosely termed costs which appear. These usually imply something like $500 for 20 minutes of paper work. Basically tell them that you are willing to pay up to $99 for this.

    6. When you go into the dealership, don't give them open ended comments. Tell them what you are looking for and how much you want to spend.

By applying these few factors, my buddy got a brand new 2010 access cab v6 SR5 for about $5000 off. Still cost around $30,000 including taxes...friggin Canada.

also, if youre getting rid of your current vehicle, sell it yourself. don't trade it in. that will save you some cash.

Do understand that anyone selling used cars usually quotes an outrageous price hoping that you won't know better and will actually pay that much. If you paid $28K CDN then the salesman, his manager and the owner would be celebrating for a week. Prices posted on the Internet (in the Chicago) area may be a little closer to reality, but still give the sales guy room to maneuver.

Check out a good used car guide for the truck that interests you and use that as a basis for a realistic price. You should still be able to beat that price.

Good luck finding a truck you want at a price that you like!

    Too few to list.
I know when I blue booked my truck it was actually worth more than what I paid for it new. You're better off buying new. Wait until March to possibly see a rebate.

Another alternative is to use HanksHelper.com. It will search all the major used car websites in a certain mile radius from your zip. I used it to find my used 05 Tacoma for a really great deal. I did have to drive 3 hours each way to get it but it was below private party blue book for a certified pre-owned Tacoma.
