So I've been shopping around different dealerships and the price that i was offered so far is $20,211 for '09 4cyl AC Prerunner w/ manual tranny and SR5, DRL, and 16" alloy wheels. From Edmunds.com, invoice is $20,697 and TMV is $20,734. Seems that after taxes and licensing I will be at $21.5k. What do you guys think of this price? Does TMV mean OTD pricing or before tax and licenses?

    Thanks for the help!

some of this, a little of that
Where are you at, here including the taxes alone would put you just over 22,000 before the license and all that. How may places have you shopped around in?

I'm in Southern California. I've been comparing between 2 dealerships. One of the dealer is a friend of my cousin and he was offering 20,995 and told me to go w/ this other dealership because he couldn't match it since he didn't have it in stock. He told me to tell them to knock another $200 off and make a deal.

Hope to be part of the club soon!

I don't know who you are shopping around w/in so cal, but as you know we have quite a few dealerships here. I went between Longo Toyota and Hammer Toyota finally after going to 3 other dealerships. Look around and take your time. You do have the upper hand in negotiations due to the economy and that Toyota posted poor profits (neg profits). Like I said, shop around. Or even wait until the 2010 come out and get a good deal on a 2009 . Good luck! :D Oh, by the way, went w/Hammer Toyota in Mission Hills

So you think I can get a better deal than 20,000? before tax and licensing?

I was quoted $19.2 last month for an 09 SR5 Access Cab Prerunner from a dealer in Atlanta. At the time, they had a $1.5k rebate and the dealer knocked off another $1.5k. Not sure about SoCal though.

Edmunds TMV doesn't include anything but truck price with destination.

I got an 07 Access Cab 4cyl Prerunner SR5 Manual (16") with Sidebars for $17K out the door at World Toyota in Atlanta back in August 08. Nice ride. Got the Suspension TSB done on it and the 09 clutch too.

Heck there was a dealer on Cobb Parkway (I think Marietta Toyota?) that had a black 08 Double Cab Prerunner 6cyl for 20K plus Tax/Tag/Ttl after a dealer rebate. It was a demo, but it was really nice with only 3K on it. And keep in mind that this was BEFORE the markets tanked.

For an 08 4cyl Prerunner...slightly used...I would offer $18,500 (maybe even as low as $17,500 if you are willing to walk away) out the door. For an 09 new...see if you can get them down to $20,500 out the door with Floormats with cash. Make em' squirm a bit and see if they budge. If they hold at $21.5, see if they will throw in the seat covers, extra D rings, bike rack, sidebars, mud mats, bed mat, etc. $21.5K is not the WORST deal....I would just fight like crazy right now to get a lower price. Dealers have WAY to much inventory and you are in the driver's seat.

Unless you are totally sold on NEW....check out some 07/08 used. You won't be sorry. These trucks won't let you down. Most of the 4cyl are not taken off road so damage/abuse is rarely an issue with those. And the 4cyl engine is a tough bugger. You can save a TON of money on a 1yr old used. Lots of people are taking advantage of the New Car deals right now and leaving the used cars on the lot. Not a bad idea, but for the EXACT SAME vehicle, I would rather keep the $3-5K in my pocket.

Just my $.02. Whatever you do.... You are gonna love the truck! :)

Appreciate the advice guys. The dealer pulled a fast one on me and told me the sold the model i want, and are trying to sell me the same one but w/ 17" rims from the factory for $400+ more. First off, I told him I didn't know they did 17" rims from factory and I told him that I'm not interested in the deal anymore and hung up on him.

Edit: I hate salesmen. They make getting a new car unenjoyable.

We're in Wichita Ks. Just bought an 09 sr-5 access cab, 4 banger. Finally settled on just a hair over 20k and then took off the 1000 $ rebate.

Don't let em get to you.
Its a buyers market & more trucks can be had.
Don't settle, nothing worse than paying for something you really don't want & remorse two weeks later.
Have you done up a list of your "must haves" & sent it out in an email to the internet sales in your area?
A Quick, no sales tricks, bottom line up front sell me a truck with xyz best price letter works & keeps the small talk we sold it out from under you away from you. :D
