And here is how the platform looks in the truck. Please don't mind all the sawdust showing up in the picture from the repeated test fittings.

Please note that creative touch, namely the "TRD" logo tag. That was basically a Toyota TRD key chain I found on Etsy... the patch was on a nylon loop. I cut the metal ring part out with bolt cutters, glued the loop together, and screwed the tag/nylon piece to the platform.

My one regret is that I got the screws a little bit crooked in afixing the TRD tag/strip to the platform. But regardless I'm not going back and re-doing anything, my dog absolutely LOVES his dog platform and I'm ramped up to go do some other projects now. Thanks for all the suggestions and encouragement!

I use this headrest-to-headrest hammock type device. I put padding over the seats for my two little dogs. I use the space between the seat & hammock for my tool boxes etc. Keeps stuff hidden. Comes out in about 30 seconds. Not pretty but very functional.

I like the mat you used - it looks like a great traction surface, and the sort of diamond tread pattern just looks... tough, like a truck should look. Practical and stylish!

Well it looks like you don't have to worry about them trying to get into the front with that solution...

The solutions that take the seats out, with access to the underseat storage make a lot of sense... however for my dog (smaller for sure than a Great Dane) having the platform above the seats allows him to see out the windows... and I had decided before I started this project that noseprint smears on the windows would be a metric indicating project success... : )

Thanks. The mat I got at Lowe’s also. I have two black lab/pit mixes both of those guys are over 85 lbs. I put a large folded blanket down for them and it doesn’t slide. Also without them in the truck anything I put on it doesn’t slide. Carpet was out for me as all it takes is a small hole in the carpet and a paw or a nail to get stuck and I have a hurt dog. And yeah I liked the utilitarian look better.
