Looking to buy my first taco 2nd gen. I have my eyes set on a used double cab lb 4x4 taco. The truck has 150000 miles on it. When I go to look at this truck is there anything specific that I should look for? To ensure its mechanically sound. I appreciate your help.

    Welcome.
There are a plethora of threads on here similar to this one. Try using the search feature.

My biggest suggestion would be inspect the frame for rust.

Also if you're not mechanically inclined/know what to look for take it to a mechanic shop and have them look over it.

Check the mechanical records and see if the frame inspection has been done. There is a place on the Toyota website where the service records can be researched for anything that was done at a dealer by entering the VIN of the truck.

Impossible to answer because we don't know how well it was treated and maintained

Depends on the year, but for the most part, no, not much if properly maintained.

Lots of variables, like where the truck "lived" for most of it's life, what it was used for, maintenance, any mods, things like that.

If it was maintained properly, 150k is nothing! There's a few past 400k here I believe.

What is the problem with the leaf springs? I see it has a active recall on it.

I see a clouded headlamp (maybe 1 was replaced). Pretty normal for an 8 year old vehicle. Check out the turn signal/DRL lenses in the headlamp housing. Some of them had a tendency to melt. Not something that the dealer necessarily owes you...as it's a used vehicle...but maybe something you could fix down the road

Thank you very much. I am hoping to get pictures of the undercarriage soon. I looked at the carfax and noticed it was in pa for awhile so it worries me about rust.

Other than being a northern truck it looks like a pretty good deal.
