Did you check it out? You could probably talk him down some for being such a high milage vehicle, but if everything looks good to you then I don't see what the problem is.. also do a carfax on the vin just to see what comes up

Yes in the "normal" automotive world that truck is worthless... with 225 k it is set to conk out at any given moment. Use this to your advantage in bargaining, knowing full well that it's probably not even half way done with its life :)

whats wrong with a 5500 pricetag for a good truck? especially since its not a salvage and everything works good it just has a bit of miles

I just bought a 95 toyota tacoma v6 3.4 with 264k miles on it and a valve cover gasket leak for 4800. I think it was high priced, but its been great to me other than a ball joint breaking as i was driving down the road, so thank god it was on a back road and i was going 5mph, not the 65mph i was doing just before that....Also, it doesn't have as much power as i hoped it would but im waiting for it to blow so i can rebuild it. =)

if its clean thats a good price. wouldn't worry about mileage i have 99 with 250k and still drive it on hunting trips 2000 miles away every year out west.As long as it has been well maintained.

That'd be a great deal around here. Extended cab 4 bangers are hard to come by and a great combo. If the truck is solid, I'd jump all over it. 225k if taken care of is nothing, but I've seen trucks with half that mileage that I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole (yes, even toyotas). All depends on how well it was taken care of. Look at the interior, how's the carpet? Good indicator of how well it was loved.

I paid $5,600 for my 95.5 Xtracab V6 4x4 with 180k miles, great condition, grille guard, nerf bars, and cheapo off-road lights back in October 2010. It was 100% Texas truck, so completely rust free. Maintenance records to boot.

But I'd say I got a steal :D. Actually drove 780 miles to pick it up, then 780 back home. :)
