I'm currently looking at a 99 Tacoma reg cab with a 2.7L 4 cylinder with a manual transmission. I currently own a 08 corolla s and have driven it for 2 yrs. I have been needing a truck and was hoping to find something of equal value to my car. I drive an hour each way to work so I need something reliable.

The truck I have been looking at has 231,000 miles. That does not really scare me since I have right at 200k on my car. My only concern is buying a 99 model truck with 231k to replace a 08 corolla with 200k that has no problems. The truck is a 2 owner truck. The current owner has had it since 80,000 and has had no problems with it. The only thing that is noticeably wrong with the truck are a couple small scratches. Everything looks clean under the hood and and the truck seems to have been taken care of.

I do need the use of a truck but am I stupid to go down in year model and up in miles. I know toyotas will run forever if you keep them serviced right but just looking for a little advice.

    Thanks in advance,

    Daniel
