If you watch quad racing the #1 bike you see is the YFZ, (with a carb.) followed by the TRX. And to boost yamaha Terry Wilmeth (an acquaintance of mine) set the land speed record on a 660 raptor with a home made JATO bottle strapped to it! Check it out on line. youtube rocket raptor!

    Nice

All my friends I ride with ride bikes, so I can only compare my Honda and Can-Am. I agree with you, it's an ATV. Oddly enough, California issues 4 wheelers green stickers and dirt bikes before 2008 (i think) red stickers. (which allow the rider to ride year round; red = partial year due to emissions)

Are you asking about top speed, mid-range or bottom end? There really is no faster. It all comes down to rider, jetting, weight etc... To say one is "faster" is stupid. You can find videos on youtube of TRX's beating LTR's and LTR's beating TRX's. I personally prefer the Honda over the Suzuki though.

You cant go wrong with a yamaha, kawi, or honda. I have all three. (450's) I also had a raptor700, its a fast quad with lots of torque but its very heavy. After riding it all day in the dunes I would feel beat to shit. My boy and friends rode 450's and would feel a little burnt but nothing how i felt. How tall are you and how much do you weigh? That has a lot to do with what you should buy. Don't get me wrong you can ride whatever you want, I'm just sharing my experience with whomever what's to listen. Good luck with whatever you buy.

    Ride smart and tread lightly.

if you want an all around sport quad. Get a 450! You can do MX, Xc and trail riding on them. They are very popular around here. I like the yfz and the ltr the best. Both are really quick. If you want a drag quad and a really fast trail bike. Get the Rappy 700. It is a super fast bike with mods. I've seen 80+hp rappy's with extended swinger's do some super fast 300' drags. My buddy has a ltr 500 that is rediculously fast also. I have a trx 700xx. I only do trail riding in really rough trails. It's perfect for me. It's plenty fast and doesn't kill me to ride it all day because of the independent rear suspension an fox shocks really soak up the bumps. It's all just personal preference. They are all great bike's.

I agree with most saying.. you cant go wrong with any of the big brands

I own a YFZ450X and have ridden the raptor 700.

I greatly prefer the 450 over the the 700. The 700 is a beast, its got a TON of power. But it also feels like it weighs a whole lot more then 450's. It feels more like It's driving me around and I'm just on for the ride. I can see how you'd feel more beat up after a long day of riding it. With my 450 I can throw it around with ease and it handles exactly how I expect it to everytime.

Despite the lack of HP, I have no problem keeping up with 700's in every situation minus wide open straights.

    Here's my YFZ

If i were you i would go with the YFZ450 for sure.. I've had one for 4 years and have rode/raced my whole life.. Have road every quad (owned a KFX, rode LTZ, Craptor, etc) haven't rode the KTM so i can't give you my .02 about it but have definitly been impressed with the handel and speed of the YFZ

It's an 89 Toyota Pickup. I got some stuff done to it.. FJ axles going under it soon.
I got a 08 KFX450...fuel injected, rides good, and pretty quick..but then again..I haven't been on any of those new ass models.

Does great at pismo, rips hard with paddles..rips hard without(once you get it going)
    It'll climb anything though..
Don't have any actions shots..I just like to ride, not bother shooting many pictures!

i do not know a ton about the new quads but i can highly recommend the Honda 250R's from the late 80's. either the 3 or 4 wheeled version. you can't lose, they will be affordable, dependable and FASTTT!!!!!!!!

not anymore though.. a couple years ago yeah, but the 450s has long passed the 250rs. they were great bikes though. i had a 250r fourtrax, both my parents has owned them both and 250r three wheelers. back in the day they were the shit, no doubt but not anymore.

    paden, what did you choose?
