I am planning on trying to pick up a 2020 Tacoma Pro tomorrow. Paying cash. How far back of MSRP do you think I can get it for considering all that is going on in the world. I am thinking $3k. Thoughts?

    “Paying cash”, wow, that’s cool.
The dealership doesn’t care. They are paid in full whether it’s from you or your financing. It won’t matter to them. All that tells them is that you can pay the big bucks and your not stuck with a loan that has a maximum loan amount. If you want to make a better deal, don’t tell them up front you are paying in cash. Just tell them what you can pay and let them work down to your level

Finance it. They will discount the vehicle more since they will be making money on the back end with the financing. Also with the current world events, might be nice to have extra cash in your pocket. Finance rates are at an all time low. You can pay the truck off in a few months if you feel inclined to do so as well.

    It's a secret
Ask for a Pro without dealership installed shyte "upgrades", then negotiate that baseline price as if you're gonna ask for financing options...when you agree on a price, then you can tell them you'll pay cash...

I'd tell them you're thinking of financing and have them give you the best price. Then if you like it, say I'll pay cash.

Yep, this. When you're paying cash, you don't let them know until you've agreed on a price. When they want to know how much you're going to put down, just tell them you want to negotiate a price and not a payment.

I bought one here in Houston a couple of weeks ago. The dealerships weren’t budging a bit on pricing on the Pro’s. I was happy to pay what I did because I wanted a manual and they are just so rare here.

Now we are being hit hard with oil pricing and fears of Coronavirus spreading. So if you don't mind traveling there are probably some pretty good deals to be had in Texas.

My dealership had two others in stock still (one black, one green). I personally love mine but stopped driving it at 135 miles in case I am forced to sell it. Sad because the truck is just awesome.

Unless you have a pension or that same amount already saved up, I’d wait a bit.

Put as much as you can on your credit card, then pay it off. I think my dealership let me put 5k on my card last yr.

I’m sure it won’t be the first (or last) thread asking what to sell a new Tacoma for.

Yup. To be fair I did the paperwork back in late February, then returned from a trip to finalize the deal. And man, that AG is just sooo good looking.

Try and find 2 pros at different dealerships that you like. Calculate the sale tax add that in. Go the last day or second last day of the month. Offer about 3k off the “out the door price” everything included. Next month might be better to buy.

Rare to find a dealer that will sell a 2020 Pro below MSRP. I paid right at MSRP plus a little more for shipping to my door from out of state.
