If you cherish the auditory health of yourself or your loved ones, you'll grab a hand gun instead of a deafingly-loud-while-indoors AR-15 ;)

I suppose that'd work. I guess it'd have to have a pretty short barrel though- throuw a supressor on a 16'' barrell and you're not gunna be moving through doors/around corners very swiftly...

I had a rock river and the gas key was not properly staked on was comming lose ;)

now your getting off topic. My bedside gun is a handgun but were not talking about handguns in this thread, we are talking about AR's.

If I changed my post to "invading zombies" rather than a "break in" would that make you feel better?

C'mon guys, yall are missing the point here. For the money you are paying for those bushmasters you can get a "top teir" rifle that has been properly tested, inspected, staked, ect. for pretty much the same money...seems like a no brainer to me

Edit: oh and hearing pro would be the last thing on my mind if I am having to grab a gun in the middle of the night ;)

Not trying to jack here, but ZR could you list all the parts you have in the PSA gun. I have a Colt CAR, but am wanting to build another. Not a super high-end race gun just a solid shooter. PM, me if the OP is worried about muddying up his thread, thought he may interested as well, thanks.

    this is what I ordered

    http://palmettostatearmory.com/2252.php

and a MOE handgaurd to replace the factory one.

I picked up a CMMG stripped lower for $94 at my local FFL dealer.

so for $623 I have a complete rifle, minus the rear sight.

I picked up a used aimpoint comp M4 for the sight.

at some point I will replace the charging handle with a Bravo company Med latch
    http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-GUNFIGHTER-Charging-Handle-GFH-Mod-4-p/bcm%20gfh%20mod%204%20556.htm

they are worth the $45 bucks to me.

I don't know, are the zombies invading your house?

If so, I hardly see how sound of the AR is going to be any less loud just because your target has pale, rotting skin, rather than a year-round tan...

Oh damn! DPMS doesn't make good rifles? I have been wanting the DPMS AR-10 in .308 for many years now but don't have the money to blow, are they really substandard quality?

If you want one u can dump the clip ok fast and repeadtly then u should look at getting one with chrome Molly barrel and action. Easier to clean and maintain. they can take the heat better then the thin standard barrels. I have bush master set up and has never let me down at 200 yds I can consistently put a 30 round clip into skoal can lid.

    (An AR-15 uses a magazine).
Chrome molly is what some barrels are made of. I think you are trying to suggest chrome-lined bore and chamber which is different. I too prefer chrome-lined bore and chamber unless it's a precision AR.

On a side note Matt, I have a CMMG dedicated .22 LR upper...any issues if I cut the barrel down to 10.5 or 9 inches?

That's a good question, you might. You need enough barrel-after-port to gas the system. Not to mention BATFE issues.:p I'd use the search @ M4C.net; they may have the answer 'cause I'm not sure.:)

.22 has no gas system..it's a blow back system like any other semi auto 22. I've got the BATF thing covered. If I need to pay the $200 tax stamp, I'm good. I'm also under my buddy's class 3 license because I'm considered an employee at the shop, in which we demo class 3 weapons.

Was thinking more in the lines of pressure issues perhaps?

Ah, I'm only slightly familiar with the conversions and not at all with the dedicated uppers.
