I’m assuming you know how to get to the bulb itself. Should be able to wiggle the bulb out of the socket. They can be stubborn. Try using a latex glove for grip.

I'd remove it and claim victory...stupid tray slides forward and light stays on unless you rig it.

Not all trucks came with a bulb in the ash tray, but there is a spot for one. If you don't have one then you probably don't have the wiring for it either.

You may have to fiddle with the bulb a bit in order for it to work. Same thing happened with my climate control lights. Replaced them with new bulbs but they didn't light up right away, had to push and wiggle a bit for them to fire.

I tried to fiddle no luck yet. I tested the connection and there's power.

I’m not sure but my guess would be that it is triggered by the parking lights.

Maybe try another bulb. I have bought new ones that have turned out to be bad.

Ash tray illumination runs on the same circuit as all "illumination" bulbs (like heater panel control for example) meaning they are turned on when truck lights are turned on (tail lights are illuminated) AND dimmer control is not in "all dark" position. My truck is "poor man's truck" and I don't have any of the "fancy" lights (cigarette lighter illumination, ash tray illumination, glove compartment light) so I can't verify it, but I think there is no switch in ash tray.

Definitely your truck is more "luxury" than mine, but still cheaper than "top model" :D

I switched mine out for a blue LED to match the glove box, Climate control and the rest. I think I used a #74
It’s been awhile since I changed all the bulbs.
