    I don’t that much.
I just been around them long enough to see the common issues.
The really smart guys are the techs, they a lot.
But those guys don’t post as often as I do.

    Plus, I like helping people.
And I bought and own my Tacoma, so I feel like I can speak on them.
Tacomas are good trucks. They don’t make a lot power and drink fuel compared to other trucks.

They have their issues just like any other truck.
But the issues don’t seem to be “big” issue.

I can only say about 2005, first year of a new model (second gen Tacoma) usually not the best...

Look, any Toyota truck is better than any other brand... so don't get a Nissan or Chevy, if the year we say is best isn't available!

Howdy, update time. Looks like I’m going to go with a 2010 Access cab trd. High mileage but frame is solid and everything else checks out fine. Drove great on the test drive. Should be picking it up on Monday

    Cool
    Some friendly advice.
Consider using a product like Fluid Film Woolwax, or similar to protect everything underneath.
These trucks are notorious for rotten frames in salt country..
Lots of info in TW on this.

I picked up my 2009 TRD double cab 4wd yesterday! Very clean for the age and mileage, frame looks to be replaced, clean and looks solid. Super excited to have a Tacoma finally

Looks like a keeper! Good luck with it. If you are ever at a dealer for some service, bring some Dunkin' Munchkins and ask the service tech if they can run run the VIN for a complete dealership service record. It will tell you everything about the initial delivery of it and show every time it has ever been serviced at a dealer, some dealer to dealer ownership changes, title and registration changes, etc. They did this for me one time when I didn't even ask for it, and it filled in almost every void in the service history and ownership record from 4/2014 to 6/2021 when I purchased it including several gaps in a Carfax report.

That’s a good idea! Thanks for that. I live practically next to a Toyota dealership. Most maintenance and repair I’ll do myself, more difficult stuff I’ll take to the dealership or a local mechanic. Could I just walk in and ask them for a service record?
