Hey guys. Im looking to buy a Tacoma reg cab but want some advice on if I should get the 4x4 or the 4x2. I want a reg cab 5spd manual. I did the math and it appears that the difference in cost per year between the 2 in terms of gas is only about 200-300 a year saving, which surprised me.

I live in south Florida and the land is super flat. I do take my truck off road to trails for camping, and I kayak fish all around south Florida. My father and I ride motorcycles and have towed from here to Tennessee with my 4cyl 5spd frontier and was happy with the performance.

I want the 2.7l because while mpg is not my main concern (I want a truck) it still matters. I read the filter and charcoal filter and plan on doing any reasonable moss to help with mpg. I commute 30 miles one way 65% highway.

Looking at how the truck will be used, would you opt for 4x4 or the 4x2? is the 4x4 overkill down here? The 4x2 is much cheaper, I plan to mod it a bit, raise or lower, not sure. I just want some advice with some reasons why maybe to help me make my decision.

    Thanks

Have you ever been stuck to where you needed a 4x4?
Sounds like you only need a 2wd with locker. This forum you are in is an intro. forum. You should go to one of the discussion forums and post your questions. A lot of members on those forums that don't even look at this forum for questions. Guarantee you will get a lot of replies there. GL.;):):
