Engine failure on Ecoboost engines is not even a thing. Have some failed sure but still not a thing no more than saying Tacoma engines fail. It’s quite the opposite the Ecoboost has been a huge success for Ford with millions on the road in numerous vehicles not just trucks, that some have had issues is to be expected. Gas mileage is not their strong point as most can’t keep their foot out of the pedal to reap the benefit :burnrubber:Like most, lack of maintenance is usually the culprit. I’d at least wait for the new Tundra to roll out if I was in the market for a full size even then it’ll probably still be 10 years behind...I know, I know reliability, resale blah blah blah

I moved from a 2014 Ram 1500 with 58,000 miles. Had no issues with it and got great mileage-about 24mpg hwy with the Pentastar 3.6 V-6 and 8-speed transmission. It had 305hp so no complaints there. I just did not need such a big truck and always wanted a Tacoma. Traded in the Ram over Labor Day weekend and could not be happier. Toyota gave me a good trade in value so I could not pass. I am really happy with this TRD OR. More space in the garage and easier to park in parking lots. Mileage is a bit less but hoping to gain a couple once it is broken in. I cannot believe how many aftermarket parts and upgrades are available. Now that the kids are grown and out of the house, this truck is perfect for what I need. No regrets.

Lots of good points here and very little flaming. Nice job TW!
I love the rental idea. My older bro got one on rental, exactly like mine, and hated it. He always had chevy full size tho. Tacomas do grow on you. In Cali, theres one (4??) on every corner, yet resale resale resale is still King. Not so with any other brand. If you dont need full size, go Tacoma, modify to your taste and enjoy. The trans stays in ECT mode at all times for me, and I like it more now.
If F150, for me it has to be the 5.0. Ive rented the turbos, not impressed.
Good luck buddy. I’ve owned 4 Tacomas now, my son has a 19, I have an ‘18. We are happy with them. Did I mention resale? Toyota quality? Yep

Many people that have gone from American made trucks ( lots of person room) to foriegn ( not a lot of person room) often complain and some go back. Maybe try a tundra?
If this even a thought then I dont think in the long run for trips and such it's going to not fit your needs. I love my Tacoma but my dad (chevy guy) always complained about the personal room from side to side.
    Good luck!

    A few.
Problem is, when you go to a car rental company they dont let you specify what make you get. Only a midsize or full size truck. U could end up with a frontier or colorado . I asked about it before.
