I am looking to buy a 2018 Tacoma TRD off-road. I want this to be a white double cab, short bed with 4X4 and a manual transmission. I also want the premium package. I do not want the technology pacakage.

Yesterday I went to my local dealer to order this vehicle and the brand new 18 year old sales man told me that Toyota only offers this configuration in inferno red. He also told me you can’t get a Tacoma with heated seats or a moonroof. There were several other things he told me that I knew was wrong.

Can anyone confirm or deny that I can get the vehicle I am looking for?

    Thanks!

Check the web site and build the truck. Then go back and talk to a differentif saleskid. But it sounds like he's wrong

Find a reputable fleet/internet sales dealer in your area. They get the best deals with the least BS. Do not talk to the floor sales guys, ever.

As stated, best to go to the website and build your own Tacoma. I did this with multiple dealers. Sounds like your guy is either incompetent or simply lazy by trying to sell you something he has or has easy access to.

Oh and btw - I have heated seats and a moonroof. It's a double cab, short bed. And it's a manual too!

When I did mine, the website didn't allow me to build a quicksand with premium and tech package and I wanted both and my dealer did the order with the options I wanted. AFAIK any combination is available with any color.

Not sure how tall you are, but if you haven't sat in one with a moonroof, you might to before ordering. I am only 6'1 and was amazed that I hit my head on the headliner. My only option now for leather and heated seats are to get a pro since they don't have moonroofs. Not sure I'll go that route.

truth. i was bummed the Pros didn't have the moonroof, but i didn't realize the rear electric slider and more headroom is way better for me and I'm much happier with that combo. I'm 6'1"

the website is apparently somewhat dynamic, and it shows different available configs at different times. depending on some shit that nobody nowhere knows.

OP, if you are set on getting a MT truck, then it will be a mission most likely. there may be many looking for these when they pop up. so reach out to several dealers. building relationships/rapport with the right sales person can make or break finding your truck. it did for me.

last, these trucks are allocated, so there isn't an "order" per se. you basically sign up with a dealer to be in line for whatever distribution allocates to them. if they get an MT, awesome for you. if not, will your sales person call you and tell you they can't make the sale? probably not. which is why i say build a relationship. if you have that, they will be willing to take on the PITA of tracking one down, bringing it in my (which usually requires trading other AT allocations with the originating dealer), all while you're trying to take down their profit. so a relationship can just take the headache out of it... possibly.

or maybe you get lucky and find one on a lot. it does happen. sometimes.

It's based on the zip code you provide, and what's either available or scheduled to be built for the specified region.

Be prepared to wait a little while to get the truck after you order it, took about 3 months to get mine but it was well worth the wait!

OP, I am in your same boat except I have already placed my "order" but really my allocation. I wanted the Tech, Prem, DCSB with MT. I am in Okla and under Gulf States Toyota. Gulf States can get the configuration I wanted but it had to have the bed cover. I ended up ordering through a dealer in Kansas over a month ago. Still waiting for my truck to even be built and then "allocated" to the dealer in Kansas. I agree with the all the post above, this will be a difficult truck to find and having a good relationship with your salesman is important. Also, so dealers see this as an opportunity to make you pay MSRP or even more. If your dealer treats you like that find another dealer. Good luck to you.

I've been looking for the same truck only in Barcelona red for two months. Working with three local dealers and one across the country. Toyota makes this way too hard. I original wanted a red pro from last year but that color was replaced with smurf blue. I'm actually surprised with myself and am now also considering a raptor. I think if Ford made a manual raptor I'd for sure switch. Sucks because I love the Tacoma's and this would be my third new if only Toyota would let me spend 40k.

Like others have said here, be prepared to do a little work to get the truck you want. I have a DCSB MT...it has sunroof, heated seats, etc. I had to "order" mine too but my dealer was awesome about doing so and was more than fair on the price (best deal I found and I searched nation wide)! I am not sure how the whole allocation thing works but they were able to tell me when it was ordered and then the progress along the way. Like Shakerhood, mine took about 2.5 months to get in but it was sooo worth it! I absolutely love driving the truck and would do it all over again if I had to!

Also, I am just under 6' and have more than enough head room under the sunroof. I am guessing it has to do with your body type. To me the sunroof is awesome! It is placed back far enough that you do not get a lot of glare in your eyes when the shade is pushed back....something I have noticed in other vehicles.

PM me if you would like some details about the dealer I worked with. Its not a bad drive down to Houston (Ive done it often) or it just might help you with negotiations down there.

Side note. Anyone order specific options? Or just the package, color combo they want? Ideally, I would want leather and heated seats, but can't do sunroof because of my height. Can options be added Al A Carte? I assume no.

Toyota does not do singular big options like that, they believe the more variables you add to the assembly line increases the chances of mistakes. They do have some Port and Dealer Installed Options but it's for smaller stuff.

Thanks for all the help everyone. After reading through your advice I contacted a internet sale manager here in Houston. He got back to me right away and let me know that he could get the truck that I wanted, but I would have to wait several months. I went ahead and put down a deposit, and picked up my new truck in June. Thanks again!Truck.jpg
