I've been looking to purchase a 4 cylinder / 2wd truck for the past few months and found a good deal on a 07 2wd Access Cab / 4 cyl / auto with the SR5 Package.

I'm just looking for some advise on what to look for when inspecting the truck. I'm not aware of any major issues with the 07 Tacoma.

I have owned 3 Nissans trucks, but don't like the new Frontier and the Ranger is outdated.

    Any advise would be appreciated!

Welcome. How many miles does the truck have, this can give you a better idea of where to start.

Thank you for the fast response.

I didn't purchase the 07 Tacoma yet. I have an appointment on Tuesday to meet with the private owner to inspect it.

I'm just looking for some advise on what to look for when inspecting it prior to making the owner an offer.

    Thanks for the information.

I'm currently looking at two trucks.
    1. 2007 Tacoma 2wd Access Cab with 40,000 miles / 4 cyl / auto - $13,000
    2. 2003 Ranger 2wd regular cab with 47,000 / 4 cyl / auto - $6000

I know the Tacoma is a better truck, but the Ranger is half the price and has the Mazda 4 cyl 2.3L engine.

Long term, the Tacoma is better.

if your just looking for a truck for hauling and don't need all the extras you should look at a new one if you haven't done so already.

this of course doesn't include taxes, tags and registration.

On the 07 check for oil spots where it's parked and drive it. When driving turn on the heat, ac, wipers....
also check for anything that looks out of line or a panel that is a slightly different color from replacement because of an accident. Open all the doors and look under the hood

    New 2wd SR5 Access Cabs are $24,000.

That is too expensive for me at this time.
