How is everyone doing... I come in peace :D if I start asking these questions in the BMW forums they will want to kick my butt!!!

Anyways here it goes, I have a 1989 BMW e30 M3. I have the original engine and parts but I want to put a V6 out of a Tacoma so i can add the supercharger later on. The stock engine is taken apart and for me to fix it back to stock I'm looking at several thousand dollars.

It has a salvaged title so I am not destroying a good car, The question I have for the forum is... I need to know if there is a certain year of engine I should go with ??? I have a 1999 tacoma pre-runner and that is the engine I would want. My friend has one with a supercharger and that thing is sweet.

    Thanks Guys...

You can use the 99 but you'll have to find a used supercharger. To get a new supercharger you'll need an 05 and up.

That had been an option but I really want the toyota reliability. I plan on actually driving the car up to San diego and L.A. area. We even thought of putting in a newer M3 engine but the cost is way more.

The LS engine is nice but not looking for all that much power.

Here is the car... Been sitting for a few years and not a week goes by that someone wants to buy it.

Its going to cost thousands to put any non-bmw motor in your car. it would be difficult to tell the best motor for it due to not knowing the dimensions of your engine compartment and tranny well. Honestly it would prob cost more due to all the fab work and cutting involved.

best bet is to buy an 89 M3 motor and put a dinan supercharger on it. either way im guessing 8 g's at the least. if the car isnt worth 8 g's get rid of it and buy a Supra.

    Fab work aint cheap..

That's a nice truck you have... yes I agree fab work is not cheap, Luckily I have some good friends with an off road shop in Mexical Mexico, I have had a Class 5 ( Jimco Built ) and a couple class 10 cars. A 1989 Perry Mcniel Built truck so yeah man tell me about expenses... of coarse I was young and stupid with my money then.

I have no where near the funds for those types of toys now. The engine swap and Fab work i am looking at about $2,000 and I have access to a v6 motor and tranny. Just want to know if there is a certain year to go with.

Now you got me thinking about the LS... :D

Very true, I can get the V6 Toyota for a lot less Money. And I think my weight distribution will be a lot better.

I have thought about it for a long time, but after thinking about it for about a year I think that I can get the Toyota engine and everything done for a lot less.

But hey I could be wrong.

    Thanx Man

whats the car going to be used for? if its for track days, its going to tuff to get an american V8 to handle the way an M3 should. Inline 6's r great reliable motors that can make alot of power. just have to be done right.

LS motors doubt it will fit. look at the corvette and camaro front ends huge... haha

Yeah you can put a LS engine in there... Some have even put the BMW V10 / V12's

    There is a cool forum...www.s14.net.net

And the inline BMW 6 cylinders from the 1998 M3's are nice but still too costly. I will basically use it as my freeway car. I have a 1994 ford cargo van That I am getting lifted and putting in some pre-runner parts in for when we go to Baja.

Oh no... heck I'm too old for that stuff. I was just driving along and it just slid from underneath me. I was going about 10 miles over the limit and at the top of the hill there was a sign that said 45... I was going around 65 and slowed down to about 55.

Also just the parts I will sell from the M3 will basically get me most of what I will need for the engine swap. I screenprint shirts so I always can trade work for parts:D

Supra engine ,like others have said. They are a very reliable engine that can handle a lot of boost. And would be pretty simple compared to newer engines because of way less if any electronics you need to wire up.
