Alright, as of right now I am running two PIAA 520 fogs (on my first gen) on the outside of my light bar and two rigid D2's on the inside. My 520's are pretty rusted from the CNY salt and I am looking to replace them. My problem with the RIGID's are that during the winter here when its snowing they run so cool that the snow just sticks to the lens and completely makes them useless with their design . So, for that reason I am looking at another set of halogens to replace the 520's since the heat melts the snow. From what I have read I think i have narrowed it down to some hella rallye ff 4000's or lightforce 170 or 240's, but am certainly open to any suggestions. Obviously everyone has their favorite brands, but just wanted some feedback for new set of halogens for my driving use. typically since my head lights aren't that great in the winter or when its foggy I will use my auxiliary when driving. SO i want something with a somewhat wider spread like my fogs but will reach a little farther as well and be good for the rain and snow applications. Like i said the LED have great output, but are essentially useless in the winter. Thanks guys!

I've had a pair of Hella Rallye 4000 'euro' beam on a previous truck. They were 100w each. The beam pattern has a really good throw, easily over 1000 ft, but not extremely narrow either, so there is also good spill to the side. Personally, I always though I was missing a bit of light to the side of the road though. That will depend on the roads you drive on the most I guess...

A combination of 'euro' and 'cornering' beam pattern might have been a a better combination (euro beam on driver's side and cornering beam on passenger side). Or maybe 2 cornering beams?

In any case, it's a good overall light for the price. And they do produce a lot of heat through the lens so I wouldn't worry about ice building up on there.

As for the LightForce, well I can't say I'm a fan. That's the brand that we see the most around where I live, and a lot of people will say that the beam pattern isn't great. They throw light super far down the road, but that's about it. I know the brand has a huge fan base, but they just look like a plastic toy compared to the Hellas IMHO.

Also, a lot of people now run LEDs here too. I haven't really heard anyone complain about the snow/ice build up however. While we get really cold winters, we don't usually get a lot of snow like you probably do on the East coast for example, so that might explain why. :notsure:
