So I'm looking at a road trip to Quebec in the beginning of August. Will be going through Niagara Falls area or the Alexandria bay area.

And I have no idea what's up there except lots of trees and a bunch of you people near the border.

Any suggestion on National parks /fishing spots I can visit and camp at. Looking to spend about 2 weeks driving around adding to your smog problem.

    Thanks
    Benjamin

How about Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario on your way up to Quebec? Bring your canoe or rent one. The interior of the park is awesome, not much fishing pressure, but it is remote - 2 or 3 days of paddling to get in, some portaging. No smog problem to add to there :)

How far north you want to go? On you way north you can go through the Laverendrye Park, wich is full of fishing spot and camping. You have to get a pass at one of the home office and a fishing permit before accessing the lake you previously chose. But since you are not Qc resident, I don't know the procedures...

Also you can rake the route 17, Ontario, up to Temisaming village, Qc. Up in this region there is a big bunch of outfitter where you can spend a couple days fishing ;)

Hope those 2 suggestions help ;)

You can also hit the road to reach Matagami,Qc. I think it is the last city (village) in North West Quebec. Further North you will find Hydroelectric Dam, maybe workers village, some first nation village and maybe a few outfitters.

Laverendry park is the paradise of the "wall-eyed" fish. Be sure to bring a CB radio since it's pretty much all logging road. I worked there last summer, lots of opportunity to explore. I know a couple of spots up there so feel free to ask!

I went around it actually. I crossed at Niagra stayed the night on the Canadian side and drove North until I hit the Matagami (sp?) mine passed that and made a loop coming back down through Main. Took my sweet ass time too. It took me about 12 days to make the circuit with me taking my time.

Very nice and cool too. Would love to live up there if I ever hit the lotto.

On a side 2 days after the mine on rt109(?) I pulled over to the side of the road to take a crap in my honey bucket. I didn't see any one while I was dropping off the kids on the side of the road. Kind of surreal.

Will probably do it again next summer but go west instead.

Sounds like a nice trip! You were camping anywhere you wanted? You were using a gps and had the route already planned or just used a map and road pannels?

Camped where ever, I just pulled well off the road and pitched the bed tent. I utilized both maps, GPS and ask that guy over there in a mining/company truck.

It was some what planned with the intention to turn left or right when ever the mood hit me.

And unlike the speedy goats/deer of the lower 48. Mooses just don't give a fuck when they walk in the middle of the road. Bunch of assholes.

It was fun. And it was kind of surreal taking a shit on the side of the road in front of my truck in broad daylight and not seeing a single person.

The one thing I decided to do at the last minute and it paid off was get some screen from the hardware store and covered the front grill to protect the radiator from the bugs that decided to suicide against my truck. I ended up replacing it twice during the trip. Have enough for three or 4 more splatter fests.

And lots of mosquito spray. Thank god I didn't run out.

Covering the rad with a screen is a very good idea! I guess there was a hole bunch of bugs up there!
Were you alone for the complete trip?

Yup just me. If I had to change one thing, it would be that I should have brought along my canoe.

And the bug problem isn't a huge issue in that I wasn't sure how bad it would get, seeing as it was summer and all. I've had a radiator over heat because of the caked and baked on dead bugs.
