...at how big of a spread I am getting from one dealership to another for what they are giving me for my trade!

I have a 2022 SR dblcab 4x4, 10k miles. I bought it new and LOVE the truck. But I REALLY could use the longer bed. In Canada the SR comes in a long bed version...not here. Why the hell does Toyota do that?! Anyway, I'm really not wanting to spend a whole lot to upgrade to a long bed. My focus has been on a 2021 with very low miles either in an SR5, a TRD Sport or OffRoad. So far for trade allowance I have been offered a low of $27,000, to a high of $36,500. And that number is off their internet advertised price on their truck. Seems so inconsistent between dealers. Btw, I am in the midwest(Illinois).

Some of the dealers are just nuts. My truck stickered for $35,097. I looked at one dealer that had a '21 SR5 with 14k miles, dblcab long bed. He hit me at $31,000 for mine while asking over $40k for his. His stickered for $37,950! That dealer told me the market on trucks was down right now. I told him apparently only on mine, lol. Another had a long bed Sport that had just sold when I called but he's trying to switch me to a '21 OffRoad with 9k miles short bed. He's offering 36,500 off the $39,987 price of his truck. He is trying real hard to sell me that truck! If only it was a long bed. Anybody having similar issues trying to upgrade with the 3rd Gens?

Will a bed extender work? Save you a lot of money.

Yes. A 4’ bed is like a trunk.. not long enough for much, 6, bed and bed extender if you want to carry 8-12’ lumber, kayak(s) . Less stress on the straps. Plus 8’ doesn’t stick out past the tailgate. No red flag required. What I’d like to see is a wider bed where sheet goods lay flat.

Sheet goods can lay flat in our beds. There are two square notches on each bedside. Place a 2x6 across between the notches and lay the flat goods (Plywood, etc) across the lumber bridges.

Make your (and our) life simpler and forget the prices and just look at the net. Cash out of pocket is all that matters. It looks like you have 2 dealers at $9kish. What number would make you happy? Try telling us and them that and negotiate around that. It really will simplify your life.

Forget about the top numbers. Focus on the difference between the numbers.

No. I play drums in a band and will get a topper for it when all said and done. Stuff has to be secure and hid from the weather.

But in a 5' bed an 8' sheet of plywood isn't over-center enough using those 2 notches and 2x6s. It will tilt down on the tailgate. Too much rear weight past the last notch. I would assume on a 6'1" bed that would not be a problem.

I've of course done that. The bottom line is all that counts, obviously. But again I am amazed at the spread of what they wanna allow me for my trade, all things the same. One dealer with a '21 TRD Sport gives me $36,500 off of his $39,500 priced truck. Another on his similarly priced truck wants to steal mine and only allow $27,000. THAT was my point. I did F&I and Sales Mgr at car dealers for 25yrs.

When I was building my 22 DCLB Sport I didn’t think you could get a long bed in an OR. I could have been wrong though, it’s been 4 months. I also got my truck for less than some of the used 21’s were being listed as. Really wanted cement but no dice for 2022 models.

Similar problem here. I've been lowballed several times and can't find a vehicle that has the options I want. Dealers are still asking msrp or more.

Not sure that I would trade in a truck I bought new for a used truck.
