I have a 2017 limited that came with a 3/2 leveling kit on it. I’m wanting to upgrade the entire strut assembly maintaining my three inch lift. These blocks are 1.5 inches but give me three inches of lift. What size strut and brand should I get?

Thanks for the video…and I have been searching the forums, but not finding answers concerning fit of the replacements. For now, I’m keeping the 2 inch blocks in the back and just changing front. I like the level look. If I order struts for a three inch lift, will it be the same as my stock ones with the 1.5 block on top? Because some how, this 1.5 block gives me 3 inches of lift do to geometry or something. Sorry, I’m new to all of this, this is my first truck.

Post 2 and 3 from your first thread.

Fun fact. Tacomas don't have struts. Regardless of what catalogs or people may say. And no, they are not the 'same thing'.

Tacomas have coil-over-shock double wishbone IFS.

I was actually just reading this…so apparently I violated sacred terminology…. My apologies… we are both still referring to the same concoction of metal components so I don’t see what the big deal is if you refer to them as struts or coil overs or whatever. I just need to put the right damn ones on my truck! Has no one ever switched from these block spacer things to full coil overs/strut/whatever?

Do you not read what we answer, or to you just not like the answers?

Bilstein 5100 or 6112 is the most common choice.

The terminology info is to help you learn, not criticize. And yes, Rock Auto is incorrect.

    Just my $.02.

I installed Bilstein 5100's on my 2020 SR with just a few thousand miles. Stock coils and leaf springs. It was OK, better than stock, but not great. At 65K miles, I opted to get rid of what I had and go with Nitrocharger shocks front and back, OME 886 coils in front, Freedom Off Road UCA's, Icon leaf packs in the back. My truck sits about 2.5" above stock and rides so nice. I also have a fair amount of armor and a winch, so that makes a difference too.

How does the ride compare between the 5100s and the OMEs?

The nitro chargers didn't rate well at all in that video above. Bilstein 5100s were on top overall. Bilstein 6112/5160 are very popular and would be my choice.

I appreciate everything you guys are telling me, and educating me on correct terminology. I understand what brand of coil overs to get now, but the fit and replacement of the ones I have now is not yet clear. Currently my coil over has a 1.5 inch block on it. Are these Bilstien coil overs adjustable?

They are a shock absorber with selectable perch positions for the spring, which can create lift.

They are not adjustable in the same way as an adjustable coilover with a threaded shock body.
