I am wanting to upgrade my front door speakers because the stock ones just aren’t that good. I love music with tons of bass and the stocks don’t really do it for me. I have a little wiring experience but not very much. I just want something easy and cheap but something with good bass and sound. I’m also using the stock head unit, is that something I should look into replacing as well?

crutchfield.com, if you buy speakers from them they throw in the adapters and mounting ring for free

it's super easy, you can do it in less than an hour

You need an amp if you want bass. Then....it all begins from there and snowballs :D

The stock head unit is low power, new speakers will be a mild improvement but if you want good sound you need to replace it all. Head unit, amp, speakers and a sub.

No such thing as good and cheap. If you want more bass you want a sub...but then if you add a sub the speakers won't be loud enough so you will likely want speakers and and a speaker amp...car audio gets expensive really fast.

Spot on. If you want decent bass you aren’t going to get it without a sub.

I will say that you can build a reasonable decent system in an AC without going too nuts, but it depends on you definition of too nuts.
    I did a pioneer touchscreen headunit ($600ish)
    Focal 4 channel amp ($250ish)
Front door Polk 6” speaker component separates ($200 ish)
    Polk 8” sub ($100ish)
    Homemade sealed box
    Miscellaneous wiring ($100ish)

Major upgrade over stock. I’m happy with it but it’s still l pretty basic.

Im in for ~$1300 for a basic system and I did all the work including a custom box. Ask yourself if that is a price you can swallow.

you can do something for a little less (there are cheaper headunits, but I wouldn’t go too cheap on the speakers or amp)

That's a pretty good intro setup that prob sounds great. I think OP can get away with skipping a head unit and doing LOC off stock. Doing it yourself is where you save a lot.
