I turn mine completely off in the summer, lest the truck fill with flying insects seeking the light. Then seeking my blood while driving down the road:facepalm:

My stock battery in my 2010 was still going strong after 6 years but I replaced it just because it's so old. I figured the hassle of it leaving me sitting somewhere was more of a pain than the cost of a new battery. I went with a NAPA gold battery- it wasn't cheap, it was over $150 after core trade in. I had to get a new battery bracket from Amazon because it was a slightly different size than the stock battery (same specs just different physical dimensions).

Iv been waiting on mine to go. 2007 oem battery! I just had to change my wife's oem battery in her 2008 highlander last week. Not only does Toyota make some some good vehicles but also makes some kick ass batteries!

Sitting the the dealer now. Truck has was hooked up to a battery tender all night, and I still had to jump it this morning.

Tell the dude at the service line: "Do not shut it off. You won't be able to start it, the battery is shot".....
He goes and shuts it off.... "Oh looks like your battery is not charged. Let us hook it up to a charger and see if that fixes it". wat.

Aaand they are refusing to replace it under warranty because I have an aux fuse panel and a circuit breaker installed.

Fuck this dealer. And fuck Toyota.

This was actually the first thing I asked him and he flat out said they can't prove it but still won't honor the warranty. I went elsewhere and got a new battery.

But then I googled a bit and found out about Magnus-Moss Warranty Act. Unless the dealer is able to prove that my aftermarket shit caused the battery to fail they have to honor the warranty.

I just called the service adviser and ripped him 7 new assholes. They are going to reimburse me for the battery I just bought at another shop. Lol.

Yeah, he told me the same thing. He said if you remove everything and bring it back to us today we will replace the battery. But fuck that. I'm not wasting my time to remove things that had fuck all to do with the problem. The battery failed by itself as batteries sometimes do. I know it. They know it. They decided to get greedy and lose a customer over a $100 part. There is no way in hell I would ever go to that dealer and I will make sure to tell them that. In addition to a 1 star Yelp review and 1 star that I will give them when they send me their survey.

$150 for a battery?! I've never paid more than $70 after core return. But then again l'm cheap and don't trust shops as a rule.

I ran my battery down once because I had the dome light on with the door shut finding stuff. When I got out the light was on as expected. My dome light stays on 10 seconds or so after the door is shut which it usually helpful but trapped me when I was unwary.

My original toyota battery finally died after 7 years (a year after the dome light incident), I replaced it with a NAPA battery, 8 year warranty as I recall. 7 years is a good lifetime for a battery, but it's not real hot where I live however. $140, $20 rebate so final cost was $120, same as the online price from the local dealer.

Best is relative. IMO, it's the lightest, cheapest, longest lasting battery you can buy, whatever that is. ;) :D

 That's some funny shit!!! Seriously funny sig worthy material. :D Sorry for the trouble. Glad you got it fixed, even though it sounded like a pain dealing with the stealer.

That's a great video. ETCG is great. I've watched his videos before and find him very entertaining. lol Especially when he ripped Moog for thier part not manufactured correctly. lol

If you look in the Owners Manual you will see that there is a way to get reimbursed directly from Toyota Corp for failed parts, you just need to send them the receipt for the new battery.

I may have a record. My 2005 has the factory battery in it dated 11/12/04 and it was clicking when I tried to start it 2 days ago. Jumped it and it's been ok since. supposed to be 90s all week so time for a new one finally. RIP old battery. You've been good to me.

Oh yeah... these fuckers paid me for the battery. I called the dealer, mentioned Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act and suddenly the check was being issued to reimburse me for the battery i bought elsewhere.

    That was a fun conversation:

    - It is TOTALLY up to you, and the check is NOT contingent on it at all, but is there any chance you could delete your negative Yelp review?
    - Absolutely not.
    - OK, thank you!

Battery on my 2012 V6 4x4 just switched off the other day. Parked it the night before and next morning nothing, except for a glow of a battery light on the dash. I took the opportunity to upgrade to Optima Yellow Top D27F. A lot more cold cranking amps than stock, and now I feel more confident to add other electrical stuff to it.
