I've done the search and found 5 threads about this in the 2nd Gen section, but none of them have been updated in about a year.

I have a 2015 O/R with 3200 miles. Over washboard roads (Massachusetts roads are crap) I was hearing the typical front seat rattling that I didn't have in my 06 Tacoma. Now I'm feeling the driver's side seatback move when I hit the brakes. I can move forward and back about 1/2". Pisses me off for a $33000 truck to have slop in the seats that my 10 yr old truck never had.

I'll be calling the dealer, but I'm wondering, with other people having these issues has anyone actually gotten resolution? Has a dealer or Toyota actually done anything? Or has anyone done a fix for them on their own?

Again, the threads I saw ended in 2014 and they just trailed off with no answers.

I think it's the active restraint head rests that you are noticing. They rattle. 2009+ trucks have them.

That does not explain my seat back moving when I hit the brakes. Again, it moves back and forth when I brake and accelerate.

Mine moved side to side when I would enter a turn. I knew it wasn't the rails or anything on the bottom half and it felt like complete crap. The first dealer I complained to could not "duplicate" the situation. The 2nd one I went to could see what I was talking about and they ordered me a new drivers seat (the whole assembly). I too was pissed that a $30K+ truck had an issue like that. Fortunately the replacement seat was not loose like the original, so my problem was resolved. And this was on my '14 Taco purchased July 2014.

I know I have a warranty. And again, reading some of the previous threads, many times it is found to be "normal" when compared to other trucks on the lot.

My post was to find other people that have had this issue and have gotten resolution at their dealer.

Once I contact the dealer and get it looked at, I'll update with what happens.

I am hearing rattling in the driver side door. When I push on it with my hand it stops (and no there is nothing in the pocket). No seat movement or rattling.

Truck goes in tomorrow. I'll duplicate the issue for them so they can't say it didn't happen for them while my truck was there all day. I'll definitely report back.

Went in this morning and in the service drive, I brought out the assistant manager and a tech. I showed them the 1/2" travel back and forth of the seat back. It was easily duplicated on both seats. The tech went out and checked another 2015 and came back with this long winded explanation of how there needs to be a certain amount of "slop" (his words) and more blah, blah, blah. Now, I had an 06 Sport and the seats are identical to the 15 off-road. I cannot tell any differences beyond the headrests. My old one never had this issue. My truck is three months old with 3600 miles. I find this to be unacceptable and plan on calling Toyota on Monday. Both the tech and the asst mgr told me that there are "subtle changes" and some "are for the worse" from the 06 to the 15. I said "so, you mean to tell me they made sheet metal changes and decided to just make the seats worse while they were at it?" They never even tagged my keys, no paperwork was generated and I was sent away after being there for about 10 minutes in total.

Also, I mentioned how the front brakes are much more "grabby"- and this was how I first felt the seat travel- than my old truck and instantly knew the next discussion would happen where I was made to feel like a moron while being told that new brakes would be more sensitive than old brakes from an old truck. I did my ten years working at a dealer- know all about that. But anyone that went from gen 2.1 up to gen 2.2 knows that they did make a few changes and like others, I've noticed that, especially at low speeds, the brakes barely do anything then all of a sudden you face plant into the steering wheel when they grab. I've had new cars/trucks and new brakes installed on my old truck. There's a difference.

I'd say they were either lazy or concerned with submitting a warranty claim for two seats which I'm sure would be a good dollar amount. I'll be calling another dealer next week as well.

I now have an appointment with another dealer that assured me over the phone that this is NOT a normal situation.
Also got a follow up call from the Toyota Consumer Affairs Liaison for the area- seems like they want to know what's going on.

I'll update again after I visit the dealership.

not normal. normal is a wee bit of slop, a tiny bit. but so tiny you'd never feel it unless you
stood outside and reached in and torqued on the seats and even then it'd be the tiniest wiggle

sounds like you have blown gears in the adjusting mechanism

My 2015 is the same way and makes noises sometimes when my weight shifts when turning. Don't think I'm going to waste my time trying to get it replaced.

Well, if it's "normal" for these to do that, where they shift back and forth like that, then shame on Toyota. $34,000 and I've had $800 cars that never did this. Especially since my trade in with the exact same seats never did this after 10 years.

I agree. It's pretty lame. I'm fed up with dealership attitudes towards things like this. If something isn't actually broken they won't attempt to fix or replace it. I would've thought that for the money these seats would've felt sturdier.
