most dont know........many could care less

the actually combustion in the cylinder of an ALL aluminum engine
    rings like a bell
im not talking about ' ping or knock '

i suspect its a direct result less mass

    especially in the upper cylinder

in dinosaur years even when there was ALL cast iron engines
then cast iron block + alum heads

the cast iron damped out the ringing

head gskets failed on the first 2 iterations mainly because of inferior metallurgy

they fail a lot with All alum

Are you a tire salesman? Why do I get the slicked back hair tire salesman/wanna-be technician vibe from you? Couldn’t cut it as a real technician and needed to find a job after high school? That would explain the constant lip flapping but no knowledgeable substance to your posts. I’ve changed hundreds of spark plugs, I’ve received damaged ones more than a few times. If you ever turned a wrench, you’d understand.

Spark knock is a very definitive sound, I am 100% certain what I was hearing was spark knock. Fuel blowing by the plug threads could cause a lean condition on the passenger side bank causing the ping. I couldn’t tell you which plug came from which cylinder. All I can tell you if the plugs were BARELY tight and the passenger side rear-most plug was full on loose.

    tip

if U r putting 3 electrode plugs back end

imagine if U talked to everyone facing away from them
many plugs go in that way
be certain that 180 open face is facing the intake valves

imagine if U talked to everyone facing away fom them
some plugs go in that way
the electrode Blocks the incoming charge.................contributes to MISfires !!!

Any & All engines have more air/fuel in 1 zip code than ANYwheres else inside the cylinder

by facing the open face sparkplug towards the intake valve
    U get better combustion
actually aids in keeping plugs clean

its tedious to be certain they are installed that way

    they last longer
the gain is approx 1hp per cylinder

    probably see more MPG

it does curb pings ......knocks....... misfires

Yes saw that, I have been looking at it so that I could get this done. I knew the drivers side was gonna be a pita, but you showed that it can be done.

What the fuck is up with all these confrontational people in this thread. @Redline870 i don't remember what I paid. Could've been 20-25$ a plug, I honestly don't remember haha. I can't find the email either

Dude your posts are really hard to decipher.

You’re referring to indexing. I’ve never indexed a plug and I never will, there doesn't seem to be a lot of quantifiable data on it, mostly just theories and speculation. I’m not going to put every single spark plug in every single cylinder and keep track of where the electrode is. The crush washers on the plugs would be flattened by the time you got done. It doesn’t gain 1hp per cylinder either, it’s supposed to have about a 1% increase in power. Not really worth my time for a glorified grocery getter. To each their own though, if you want to index your plugs, it’s your time and money.

    No idea man.

I found an issue with my truck, posted the issue to this forum to help warn others along with some tips to make the job easier, and then douche bags like @Sungod show up and pick out the price of the spark plugs of all things, to try to dismiss what you're saying. All because I spent $24 extra on the parts vs. going to a parts store and he doesn't approve. Imagine being so unhappy with your life and so self aggrandizing that you browse internet forums trying to police how people spend their own money? Imagine being so arrogant that you dismiss someones knowledge on a topic because you don't approve of how they spent their own money? What a terrible existence.

    its UR photo.........Ur spark plugs
    clearly show several issues

while im not runnin for ms congeniality
    i pass NO judgement

    its ALL mechanical to me
    i dont schmooz.............persuade............cajole...... or influence
    Ur taco has no feelings

no torque wrench........ no indexing NOT an indictment
yet i can clearly See Ur engine is down more than 1%

i read & reread several threads on owners concern about 'MISfires 'represented on LCDs
by description didnt know if they were confusing pings...detonation .....or knocks

    looking at Ur photo
    lookin at Ur plugs
i can SEE MISfires on 2 plugs as if they were WET FARTS !!!
    waste o power
    throttle response
    MPG....waste o gas

none of which are representative of U the individual

good luck with all Ur endeavors

Having made multiple trips back to parts stores and dealers because I was handed the wrong, broken, or used part, it seems like a pretty smart thing to open the box and inspect it before heading home. Not to mention the time wasted if you have no other means of travel and have to reassemble with old parts just to make the trip back. Not hard to see why people get irate at a parts store when hours of their time was wasted from a mistake that could have been prevented with only a few seconds to double check.

Also it does't take a genius to conclude an alignment may be off, pretty obvious when the car drifts wildly into the oncoming lane when not holding the wheel. Camber is also pretty obvious, if your spec is negative and it's clearly positive by visual alone.

Where are you buying your parts that this epidemic is occurring? I have been turning wrenches for over 30 years and rarely have I had to return something to a parts store. I have never been given used parts. Every. About the only time I have ever had issue with a defective part was an oil pump on a grand Cherokee. Most irritating parts failure ever because you have to removed the cross pipe as well as the front axle. Even with that there was no way I could have eyeballed and issue.

As for your assertion that you can spot an alignment, I'm a bit confused. You mean to tell me that your eyes are so good that you can spot 1 degreee of variation let alone a tenth? You must be superman, except I know that what you are saying is not true because if you know anything at all about alignments, before you take any readings at all you must put the wheels on turn plates that will free the suspension from any binding.

Now you clearly misinformed that a drift to the other lane would automatically be indicative that the alignment is off. While it could be, there are a number of other factors that would also need to be checked as well and none of which can be eyeballed. Well maybe air pressure, but even that can be impossible to spot. I'm not sure that you realize this, but there are several things that a tech checks before he would even sweep for caster. Your assertion that it doesn't take a genius is correct, but it takes a skill technician to diagnose and correct the issue. Your job as the owner is to convey the symptoms to the trained professional.

Don't get me wrong, I am not bashing you or trying to belittle your knowledge. Just trying to help you out.
