Weird, mine had every single box checked. If you notice, mine is even the rare 3.73, Max Tow, had sunroof, heated & cooled seats, leather, power fold and extend mirrors, full MFT/SYNC, Sony 700W, full crew cab with 6' box, Honestly the most loaded machine I've ever driven.

I think mine came out to $40,000 OTD. Drove for a year, sold 30' TT so I was greatly underutilizing the truck, always got crappy mileage because of the 3.73's. Toyota dealer gave $38k on trade for it, with 12 miles, but I went to CarMax first for an appraisal :D

Drums are cheaper and don't detract from the truck's braking performance. The Taco out-brakes the Frontier and Ridgeline with rear discs: http://special-reports.pickuptrucks.com/2012/01/2012-midsize-shootout-track-day.html

A rear disc system still needs a small drum parking brake nested inside the disc hub, so the mechanical complexity is still there.

"Problems" like this are making today's vehicles giant pieces of shit. Ohhh dealer my truck makes a squeak, ping, tiny roof in the rain, drivers side sag, i can hear my tires, ect bullshit.

Granted these trucks have their issues and real problems... they are sound working machines. I sold mine because it had a rust hole in the frame.

Maybe it's me, and/or maybe I'm old but I don't buy anything without doing my due diligence. I spend months researching everything about a major purchase. By using this approach, I rarely suffer buyer's remorse. I knew the issues and shortcomings of a Tacoma before I even began the purchasing process. Simply put, a Tacoma is what it is and in spite of it or because of it, I chose to spend my hard earned money on one.

I do not understand people who buy something not knowing exactly what they are buying. Then months later complaining about their purchase.

A Tacoma is not a Bugatti just like a pig is not a cow.

Tacomas don't ride smoth in comparison to a car. Which is OK, it's a truck.
Not as luxurious as other trucks, that's OK. Lasts longer with out the service problems. Usually.
Is it the owner expectations that are the problem? So many on the road, not everyone can be wrong, right? Just drive and enjoy.

I don't really think it's that they are struggling. I firmly believe this is based on the manufacturer attempting to cut corners to maximize profits, which in turn leaves the consumer with the short end of the stick, having to do aftermarket on the vehicle which usually fixes the shortcoming. They can build them "like they used to" the problem is they choose not to because they are greedy.

Greed is the downfall of many large corporations and companies. No one stays on top forever, because of this very issue here more often then not.

I have driven my fair share of those trucks prior 95.5, both Nissan's and Yota's. SOLID trucks!

He nailed it right on the head. ^^^

I don't understand why everyone has this huge fapfest about disc brakes in the rear. They are shit.

Cap, incorrect rims & tires, stereo...
So in the end, what you're saying is Toyota needs to build $100K pure race trucks for the general public, for $40k? Yeah, and I need a job that pays for 40 hrs. of work, when I only put in 4 mins. of effort...

for a $36k sticker price mid size truck I would have thought it would have better build quality.

people are comparing tacomas it to f-150's and silverado's....those are full size trucks. bigger truck=bigger price tag...I dont hate my truck I'm dissatisfied with it after only 16k miles. I never driver it anymore, it just sits in the driveway.
