Caught up on all that jazz on the Anza page. I had unsubscribed because I'm not able to make it to that one and the talk of awesome times was killing me. Anyhow, I could definitely see how Randys comments came across as antaganizing. And you fellas jumped to defend your buddy(s). I respect that. Commrarderie is a fantastic thing. I miss being in the military for that very reason. Hopefully sometime you can meet Randy. He really is a cool cat and means zero harm. I look forward to meeting you fellas on the trails, at a brewery, etc someday. Cheers.

I hope none of those guys who are talking shit ever experience what I did that night. @medina and I were in the dark and cold for 6 hours without coms while a couple of the guys went for help. My wife was expecting me home at 2 according to our float plan and because of no cell range didn't here from me until after 6. She was worried sick. I didn't know how the hell I would get my truck out. a front and rear locked 4x4 had to get me out. It was a light rain too so as you can imagine it was nuts getting out. I dought very few people would have stuck by my side and got me out. Not only that but I had people on Facebook and TW trying to help coordinate a recovery on a Sunday night. That's what this site should be all about. Not internet tough guys talking shit

I hope the SOLA group know that i would do the same for them. Anyday all day.

 

Most definitely the SOLA guys do know my good man. I can tell. You're a solid bunch. And you're right, this forum should also be about help and reconnaissance when needed. I myself am always learning from others. I have so many questions regarding how you went about the recovery. Id rather ask about anchor point, recovery gear used, approach angles of the recovery rigs, specialty tools you might have used, MacGyver rigging done, etc. That's the conversations I'm always interested in. I don't pay much attention to the people that explain how they would have done it better or overly criticize. Post casualty briefings can save lives. Asking the right questions saves lives. I wish more people would think that way. You went through some shit, man. All of you did including your families at home. It can be a lonely place out there and problem solving in other than optimal conditions is very challenging. I tip my cap to all of you --I've been there as well. Respect. Oh, and as I mentioned, Randy really is a good guy. I know he's real when he says he's sorry. Thing about the internet is there's all kinds of personalities on it and often things get jumbled around in translation. I've met a few weird internet whackos who are out spoken on here but socially awkward in person and when Google isn't around they're about as useful around tools and gears as (insert clever metaphor. It's late. I'm just getting home from work. Sorry). I've also met some people, as you have, that have come to be what I consider family.

Time to hit the rack. 17 hr shift tomorrow. Alright Alright Alright...
