Any of you guys recommend a good powder coating shop? Looking into replacing my 16" Methods with some 17s and getting the beadlock powdercoated.

Damn dude, just saw your post on IG, sorry to hear about the damage and fire. You brought up a good point about having everything accessible and unlocked. I have been aroumd a few fires relates to electrical in the past while on the trail and nobody having an extinguisher that's ready to go. The last rig on fire was a few months ago at Cougar Buttes during a night run, that one could have been a tragedy becouse a toddler was strapped in the back. That was a hectic moment with trying to get the kid out with open flame in the cab under the dash, the smoke and trying to undo the child seat. One of my extinguisher as well as a few others were used for that fire.

Then there was this one time at the hammers a few yeats ago on a trail called Sun Bonnet where a dude who was out by himself caught up to our group. This guy was in his first shake down run in his toyota powered buggy that he had just built. he was having all kinds of electrical related issues because he relocated and rewired his fuse boxes, everything was fubard. And to make his matters worse most of his wiring were all done with red wire. It was hard to tell what was what, nothing made sense. The group started moving ahead and this dude fell back no big deal because he wasn't part of out group which was no big deal right? Couldn't be more wrong on my life. We stopped, got out and started walking back to where he was which was around a turn where we couldn't see him. Walking down the trail we heard BAM BAM and some more BAMs... when we got to him the dude was so frusted to the point of tears at his buggy because he just had a small electrical fire that he shot his buggy with a pistol that he had  didn't take long to get back going by bypassing his EFI rely.

If anybody doesnt know this now you do. Always the first thing to do if a rig is on fire is to turn the truck off and turn off any switches for accessories that are on. 99% of the time it's something always related to faulty wiring from installed aftermarket accessories.

Anyways, back to my point, I carry two 5 lb extinguishers while on the trail, 1 in the cab and one in the bed always near the front, both are always easy to get to.

I like the fact people are posting where they carry their extenguishers, hopefully those who don't have one will get one and will have ideas to mount it in an area that will work for them.

This is where I keep mine inside the cab.

What class extinguisher? From the little reasearch Ive done on the interwebs I'm reading conflicting recommendations. ABC, BC, E, K, Purple K, have been thrown out there.

Used to work in a data center where our supression systems used FM-200, which is supposed to be safer than halon

Ok, I gotcha. Thanks for you input man! Gonna do some research and try to find a shop that is familiar with those wheels so they don't screw it up.

    ABC class

The Class 1 and Class 10 race cars that I'm a part of both have 15lb ABC fire suppression systems. And we practice in case of fire drills that encampuses turning off the main battery disconnect, pulling the suppression system pin, unstrapping from the 5 point harness and getting out of the car. Getting out of the cars fast isn't as easy as it may seam when strapped into the harness wearing a full face helmet that's connected to a fresh air system and radio/intercom cable withat a neck restraint and undoing to window net.

No, haven't really thought of anodizing them. Figured they're powder coated stock so might as well get it done the same way.

x2 on ABC units. Alpha is for paper, trash, sticks etc. Bravo is for flammable liquids, and Charlie is electrical. You'll be fine with ABC.

Also the acronym P.A.S.S. is something to remember. Pull, aim, squeeze, and sweep. Always at the base of the fire.

I use performance powder too for all types of commercial jobs and bumpers, sliders ect. They are fair priced and have a quick turn around time.
