Looking for 2wd friendly trails that are scenic, fun, not too far away from Glendale/Burbank area. 1 hr max. What trails are cool at Gorman? Or maybe Vasquez rocks area? Just a fun cool place to go half a day to a day and mess around on trails with some mud and water crossings. Thx

Vasquez rocks is on fire right now so it might closed for a bit. Most of Gorman is 2wd friendly so that’s a good place to start. About an hour north and well worth it even if you want to camp for the night.

Also this thread is barely on life support.

@JaCado has a 2wd specific thread that I can’t find right now. That’s a good place to meet other 2wd guys and get local trail info.

I haven't maintained it in a long ass time, been truck broke, body broke and money broke. Things are looking up though. Couple more hurdles and fire roads will be terrorized once again.

Rowher in santa clarita is the best place to kinda start, then move on to cleghorn and pilot rock (these are a tad further but with in 2 hours)

    Mods? Yes, oh yes..
get an offline gps map app for your phone or tablet. many threads discussing them (alltrails and Gaia are popula) once you have a list of trails, search through the forums here and elsewhere so you know exactly what you are up against. some trails are 2wd cake walks in summer and deep impassable bogs in spring. know your limits and go prepared.

Lots for you to go do. As others have mentioned, push a lil further out, there's so much out in the desert. it's really worth the extra drive.

If you get there early you can hit most if not all of the park in a full day. It backs up to Los Padres and there’s some good camping up there amongst trees and out of the valley. Plus you can hit Miller if you’re feeling brave. I know of one 2wd Tacoma that completed Miller.

Gorman is fun. It’s been a while since I’ve been there. I’m always down for a run there.
