Several times now, I have had to reprogram my FM radio present buttons. While driving, press a selection button and an error message appears indicating: "Check Antenna". Initially I checked the antenna and re-tightened it but it did not work. I used the scan button in the FM mode and were able to obtain the different radio stations.

This has happened about 6 times since bought the Taco in August. Any ideas on how to prevent this problem?

My vote is on a loose wire somewhere. I would even go as far as checking the connections on the battery terminals, since disconecting the battery does erase the radio presets.

It usually dumps presets when you unhook the battery... Otherwise the stock radios suck in our trucks I'd go with an aftermarket stereo

This is OT but I like my stock radio. Probably the best stock unit I've ever owned. Sounds so nice that I used it's sound character as a model for my home stereo. It does not have teeth rattling bass or ear piercing highs but I really don't want those colorations any way. It has a very balanced sound without a hint of harshness. Whoever designed it did a great job.

I guess it's a non JBL but I believe there are different versions of the standard one. Mine sounds great but I do have it tweaked for optimal sound.

If it's a 2012, why not get it fixed under the warranty?

Thanks for the suggestion. I contacted my sales rep and this is his response below. Apparently when you are not in a satellite radio area, the scan button creates total confusion for the radio system.

Thanks to all for your suggestions.

The "check antenna" will appear when you scroll through the radio button. It will go through am,fm,and xm. Xm radio is a satellite radio however we do not receive satilite radio frequencies in Hawaii. Your truck is set up for it though. You can go into the settings and then into the presets and select fewer pages ie 3. It is at 6 pages from the factory.

    Yeah.
wut? That only makes sense if you are scanning through some preset XM stations. If you are on FM mode, it shouldn't try scanning through XM. But yes, "check antenna" will show under XM if it can't get a signal. None of this should cause it to lose your FM presets.
